Help.. My sister and i are planning my parents 25th anniversary party we have a problem most of my moms family lives out of town far away and my moms sisters 25th is a month after theirs. So my sister and cousins and i wanted to throw one together so all of the family could make it to both instead of having to choose one. Is this wrong? (my mom and her sister are close and we would still plan special things for each of the parents like slide shows and speeches.)
Please let me know your feed back. (it would also help on cost were not rich lol)
If most of your relatives are in the same area, why not rent a hall in that area and travel there. I am sure your relatives will help you with arrangements. I think it is a wonderful idea to combine the two anniversaries into one party. Most of the same people would be involved.
Ask each of the invited guests to write a short note describing a memory that your Mom and Dad and/her sister would enjoy reading and compile them all in a Memory Book. If money is an issue, why not have each family bring a dish in lieu of a gift. We just attended such a party and it was wonderful. The hosts rented a heated "barn" at a local farm, provided chicken and pork barbeque and each family brought a pot-luck dish. One of the family acted as DJ and played music from the birthday girls youth and everyone was invited to dance to the oldies. There were about 50 people there and everyone was well fed and had a marvelous time.
