So basically we are having a six yr olds birthday and she wants it to be a grand ball theme. Everyone is to wear formal attire. Food? decoration? what exactly does a ball entail? what kind of music do we play?

Generally a Ball would include everyone wearing gowns with big full skirts, Boys would wear suits. The best thing to do is ask her where she saw the ball. She could be talking about a Court ball from something she saw on television. Cinderella had a Ball They had Balls in the times of the British Royallty. Marie Antoinette in France, Scarlet Ohara.
I put together theme parties (including costumes and I'd be glad to work with you on this. I'm very reasonable. Even if you just need some dresses, centerpieces or whatever.
