I keep hearing all these negative experiences with David's Bridal, so I thought it only fair to post my positive one. I went to David's Bridal in Maple Grove, MN about 1/2 before the store closing without an appointment, intending to spend a little quality time with my mother and sisters. I had just gotten engaged and was not getting married for over a year, so I had absolutely no intention of purchasing a dress and told them that right up front. I wanted to check out thier "99$" sale and see what I could compare those dresses to as I shopped over the comming months. The lady made it clear that I would not have much time to try on many dresses since it was so close to closing, but I said that was just fine. Well, I ended up getting a discontinued Monique Luo dress worth $1,000.00 for $99.00. The lady was very nice and honest with me about flattering styles and how an expensive veil didn't look as good on me as a less costly one she showed me (THAT doesn't ever happen with sales people!). I left the store with a beautiful wedding dress, and was pleasantly surprised to find out that I got a bunch of free "stuff" because I bought my dress there-a free tux rental for my fiance, 20% off the groomsmens' tuxes (my brother who lives in another state can get his measurements done where he lives and then get fitted right here in MN when he flies into town-how convenient!) 20% off reasonably priced invitations, a free marykay makeover and the representatives will come to my wedding and do my and my bridesmaid's makeup for free, plus a bunch more. I couldn't be more happy about my experience and would recomend them to anyone who doesn't think you should spend thousands of dollars on a piece of fabric you will wear for several hours in your life, but who wants to look like a princess anyways!
I just recently got engaged and I am not getting married until June of 2009. My Matron of Honor and I thought it would be fun to go try on dresses. You know, not thinking I would really find one. Well, like many other brides and bride-to-be's, I found Style 5268. This was only after I was told that I could look around for the ten minutes it would take someone to be with me. Ten minutes turned into almost an hour. All because we didn't have an appointment. WTF!? There were to other Bride-to-be's there and like seven or eight emploees just mingling around doing nothing. I had read wuite a few horror stories about David's Bridal, but I don't know many other Bridal shops in Springfield, MO. I am a full time student and I don't really have the time or the money to just travel the state looking for a bridal shop where I can just try on dresses. I don't want to buy one right away but I want an idea of what I want so I can look online! Well, once someone finally did talk to me, she was really sweet and kind and was actually helping out another girl at the same time while all her co-workers were just watching!
She told me that if I was dead set on that dress, that I needed to but it now because it will probably be discontinued in two years. I have been reading this page and a lot of the posts are from 04 and they had the dress then! Why wouldn't they have it in a year???!!!
My question, for anyone that may have an answer, is, would it be stupid of me to go ahead and buy the dress now? or should I wait? I have found the dress on Bridal Images on eBay and various other places. I have family members that can do the alterations (IM NOT GOING TO DB!!!) so that won't be a problem. And if I do buy it now, I wear a size 10 (DB 14). What size should I get? They said I may want to get a 16 that way if I gain weight or i lose up to 2 sizes, I will be fine. I am planning on losing weight before I get married but It is TWO YEARS away!!! I can't predicte how much I will lose. Please help!
OMG, I could not believe when I saw all of the posts about horrible experiences at David's Bridal...yesterday my sister, my mom and I went looking for my sisters wedding dress and thanks to the horrible staff (clerk as well as management) at David's Bridal, my sister, the bride-to-be, left in tears! I have been searching frantically for a contact us address for David's Bridal, but have not had any luck...I see a phone number in the posts that I've read so I guess I'll go that route. I'm sorry for all of the horrible experiences that I've read about. I will be sure to pass this information on to all future brides that I meet!
