I am 18 years old and I have been with my boyfriend for two years, though we've known each other all our lives. We knew from the beginning of our relationship that we wanted to get married and are hoping to get engaged at Christmas (we've had the ring since July!). We've been told that we are still so young, we should live life first etc etc but all we really want is to get married, and see the world together! (Oh how sweet!!)
The problem is, my parents are a little unsure about it, not because they don't love my boyfriend but because they think we're too young.We aren't planning a wedding til April 2003 when we will both be 19 (I'll be 2 months off 20).
Just wondering what other people think--are my parents being old fashioned?
I just want to say that 19 is not too young to get married... I am engaged right now to the girl of my dreams...And if you guys think that 19 is too young you would prolly flip if you knew how old I am. Right now I am 16 yrs old... The only problem is we have to wait till we're both 18 to be able to get married without parental consent... So it will be about 3 yrs before we can actually wed.... But we are engaged
Well that depends on the two of you. Are you both ready for all the pressures in a relationship especially in a marriage? I am 24 and My fiancee is 21. We have been together for 5yrs. And friends for 7yrs. Weve had some real ups and downs. We have 2 boys ( 3 and 8mon.) Had them when I was 20 and 23. I do say that you miss not being able to experience the fun times that come with being in your 20's. Friends, clubs, I was only with 2 people my whole life and sometimes I wonder how it would feel to date other guys and if my fiancee is the one or not. I want sometimes to be free, and able to do what ever goals I want to acomplish in life. I love my boys more than the anything and was willing to give up all my hope and dreams for myself, just to have them and be theyre mom. I lost myself along the way now thats all I am is mom and even though not married yet but living with my fiancee for 5yrs feels like wife and babysitter to him. Guys when they hit 21 go crazy so its rough. I know my situation is a bit different but we were young and not ready, our parents said the same thing, we thoght we knew what we wanted and now in some ways wish we would have waited. If you two really love eachother stay engaged but give the wedding sometime, find out if your meant to be. Perhaps listen to your parents.
