My fiance and i are planning to marry july 20th... He's in the military and is leaving shortly after. We barely have any money and the maximum amt we can spend is $1000. Any ideas??? greatly appreciated!!!
Hi,
My fiance and I are trying our best with planning our wedding. We need to plan a wedding for under 900 dollars, its hard for us he was overseas for a year, and when he came back he loaned a lot of money to family in need and also of course bills which everyone has but doesnt want. How can we plan a wedding without actually spending a lot of money?! thanks.
Hi! i want to donate my wedding dress to any of you who is a size 2 or 4. It's also a Richard Tyler gown, bought for $4200.00 let me know if you're interested.
For the dress, search ebay, I just got a dress for $100, or you can buy a bridesmaid dress for the wedding dresss and order it in white. Bari jay makes some beautiful bridesmaid dresses in white (some similar to maggie sottero style) that you can buy online for about 120-175. If you do a google search for bari jay you can find the website and view gowns, what is unique about that site is the ability to see what the dress would look like in different colors, including white. For the location, look for clubs such as elks, VA, etc. And see if you can rent their lodges (often very cheap and fairly nice, some are really nice), check out what's available around you. The city hall in the town I was born in has a huge banquet room that you can rent all day for only $250 (the nice thing about it is that they allow you to set up and clean up the day before/after as long as its not booked those days). So really look around and ask questions. Look up cities online around you and often they have websites with lots of info. Available under parks and recreation (facilities rental) and tourism/visiting bureau. Often Military bases have banquet halls that can be rented for cheap too. Do your own food or make it pot luck. If you don't think you can afford to do a whole dinner, you could have a late evening wedding and have a cake and punch reception (and have other desserts too). Or you could have it earlier in the day and serve a light lunch. Another popular choice that saves money is the backyard wedding. If you know anyone with a large, nice yard, hold it there and serve barbeque to go along with the outdoor feel. Anyplace can be decorated cheaply and elegantly with white christmas lights (since you have time buy them right after christmas when they're clearanced and cheap). Also, I would suggest trying to pick up things a little here a little there. That way it doesn't feel like you're spending a lot, b/c it is not all at once. I find I'm much better at spending $10 a week on stuff for my wedding than I am at saving up $10 a week so that I can spend the money all at once later on. Anyway, that should give you a start. Some good books to check out are "Handcrafted Weddings" which gives you great ideas on how to make beautiful accessories for your wedding from your invites to your veil and so forth. I checked it out at my library so i would suggest looking there, there is another one i'm not 100% sure of the title but it is something like "how to have an elegant wedding for under $5000" that one i also checked out at the library and you can also find at barnes and noble and just sit there and read it for ideas (yeah, i am cheapskate, but hey i plan on spending a fortune there when i'm older and have money :) Anyway, i've got so many ideas and tricks i've come across as i've been working on planning my wedding i'd love to share, feel free to email me and we can throw ideas back and forth. I'm also planning my wedding on a budget, i'm shooting for less than $2000, but the less I can spend the better, anyway, good luck. Oh, my email address might help tracijenae@hotmail.com
1. Avoid wedding departments. Anything wedding related is OVERPRICED!
2. Try DIY things ie making ur own invites
3. Anyone with a big backyard? have d reception there.
4. Cut down on guests. Do you really need to invite your long lost kindergarten pal?
4. If possible have a no kids event so dat Aunt Betty's footbal team wont be there.
5. If u use flowers to decorate go wih stuff in season.
6. Check ebay, hobby lobby etc for good bargains
7. Rope in friends and family with skills. Cousin Tim takes nice fotos, so let him do d fotos dat day. Great Aunt Slyvia is a seamstress who can sort out d bride's maids.
8. Consider wearing a white evening gown or bridesmaids dress. Cheaper and just as nice!
9. If u get any wedding gifts u dont like/use sell them!
10.Consider an evening wedding so u can serve snacks instead of a full meal.
Hope dis helps!
Sankofa, when is your wedding date? Hopefully sometime next year? I will be able to give it to you after March 2005. I can send you pictures if you want to take a look at my gown. I will also include my veil and if you're a size 7, I'll include the Vera Wang 3.75" pumps. I am happy to share this beautiful gown with you! My email address is hongabunga@yahoo.com.
I'm doing the same thing and a small wedding is the best idea we have think of people that may know others with large spaces, don't rent you'll go broke and think of themes like instead of buying an expensive wedding dress try a nice prom dress, or even go to craigslist and see if anyone is getting rid or a dress your size. But prom dresses work as far as catering goes try getting family to help cook stuff . Places are easy to find and so are priests all you need is an ordained minister of some sort and your good. Do go too fancy. Go easy and cheap cut corners wherever you can trust me it will work!
