I think you need to think about any other items you might be wearing will they be silver or gold? I am also using a tiara as I have dark brown hair and I think it looks beautiful not like some white band going across my head.
I think a gold tiara will look best. But not to big! It would be to much. About 1" high would do. I'm using a tiara for our wedding.B/c I'v always been called princess by Steve. I found my tiara at ejools.com they have so many. You can get these tiaras in silver or gold finish or whatever else you may want!
I think it completely depends on what else you want to wear as well as your skin tone. I look best with gold, but most people prefer silver. Also, most tiaras you will find are silver. I actually just got some hairpins from www.springdream.com that work out really well. If you can't decide you might want to try something like that. They work well in updo's.
I think that it all depends on your other wedding colors. I have an ivory dress and my colors are navy blue and silver. It totally works. My tiaras (for my bridesmaids because I'm not having one) are all silver. It looks great!
Its a tough one.
I have personally gone for gold. My bridesmaids are wearing gold with ivory and I am wearing ivory with a hint of gold. I think you need to pick the colours of your bridesmaids, or the colours of your flowers. If it is a warm colour go for gold if it is a cold colour (eg blue, purple or some pinks), go for silver.
Another point to noteis that silver is popular at the moment and is easier to find tiaras and accessories in. Hope this is of some use.
You really have to try them on. Be open minded. Find a shop to work with you. You do not need to spend a lot of money. It is a very special day and you want to look your best then and in your photo's.
If you are in NJ, contact Anything But The Gown in Randolph.
Good luck.
I would definitely go with the gold if you decide to wear a taira with metal-tones. Gold is a warmer tone, which would compliment the ivory dress (and presumably ivory veil?). Silver is a cool tone and would better compliment a white gown. Also, if you will be having any pearls in the headpiece, unless your headpiece is custom-maid, most manufacturers pair ivory pearls with gold metal-work and white pearls with silver metal-work (the 'cool' and 'warm' thing again).
