Re: ASKING FOR PEOPLE TO PAY WEDDING
I just wanted to make a comment, that i did a search for sponsorship for weddings, and wasted so much time reading all these petty little fights between all of you. How old are we???? Just thought you would like to know how silly everyone is being.

Re: ASKING FOR PEOPLE TO PAY WEDDING
When my cousin got married, she and her husband had just purchased a small house, they were going to go to a chapel. We talked her into a dream wedding with the family's help. The entire immediate family got together and decided that she should have her dream wedding. We figured that we would find a reasonable hall and we would pay for our own meals, there was no alcohol served and soda, tea and coffee was free at the hall. Their church offered the wedding the saturday before Easter Sunday for free and it was decorated nicely already from friends and family of the church who donate flowers and other items for Sunday service. Their close friends offered to pay but we figured that since they bought gifts for the housewarming, that we would foot the bill for them and they paid in $2500 towards the hall costs. That was over half. We had a wonderful 3 course meal at the hall on the delaware river and it was nice. The family decorated and we chose not to have a DJ but a family friend offered to be the DJ as a gift. I thought that since we wanted it for her, we did the right thing. They both are beautiful people and deserved to have a dream wedding. We didn't have sponsors, we have a close knit family. A neighbor loaned her wedding gown and we had small alterations done through my sister. We found gowns for the bridal party for $45 online and tux's for the men were $69 and the groom was free. Nothing fancy, just a black tux. Their honeymoon was funded by our travel agent as we take many family trips through them every year and we do fundraising trips through them so they were given a 4 day trip to the Poconos. I think that when family gets together and helps another family member to have a party, it is alright. They didnt' ask us to pay, we offered. We want all of the young ladies in our families to have dream weddings and we can do that on a budget of 5000 to 6000. I think it is fine that way if the people know ahead of time. I think that is fine.
