I can not remember how much I spent on all the things that I got for my wedding however, I do know what my budget was $1500. That was 11 yrs. Ago. I am a wedding planner and have done weddings for all kinds of budgets.
I can tell you that spending $5000-whatever on a cake that you eat and that noone remember is out there.

Cinderella Wedding
Wedding Dress-$650 w/ alterations(davids bridal on sale)
2 bridesmaid dress (on ebay- originally from davids had bridemaids go and try on exact dress for size and fit)- $160
Flower girl dress, hair piece, gloves (on ebay- originally from davids same as bridesmaids)-$50
Cake wedding and grooms- $250 (friend that is a cake decorator)
Decorator for wedding and reception $300 (discount given)
Invitations-150-$115
Photographer(friend just starting out in photography)-$150
Tuxs-rented-$100/ea
Still working on other things but that is what I can remember with out looking it all up.
