My name is Yolanda M. And I have two boys 16 years apart, I have been living with my youngest son's father for the past three years, I was brought up in a very Christian home and never imagined that I would one day be "shacking up" with someone. This has really convicted me over the years along with the fact that I had another child out of wedlock and I haven't been back to church since January. My Bishop and Pastor have been wonderful to me and have never said a judgemental word to me, nor has anyone else at my church...it is just my own convictions I guess.
My fiance and I have been through every up and down possibly imaginable from him cheating on me with his youngest daughter's mother all the way down to his alcoholism (which he is currently attending treatment for). This man has stood by me and we have grown as a couple over these years throughout the rough times, and Lord knows those were a many! I lost my mom on March 10, of this year and he asked me to marry him, that night, he was right there with me every step of the way, I even told him that I fell in love with him all over again during that time.
It has always been my dream to get married every since I was 16 years old and I wanted to have a beautiful wedding, although as I got older I just thought about doing something practical and just going to the justice of the peace, but there still that teenage girl that longs to wear a pretty gown and walk down an isle in a church full of people to the man that I will spend the rest of my life with, my soulmate. Unfortunately, the finances are just not there, but I don't want that to hinder me from having my own personal fairy tale. My mom has passed away as well as his mom, my dad has prostate cancer and has to pay for doctor's appointment etc, etc. As you see we are in quite a pickle!
I asked my sister about perhaps looking for information to have my wedding sponsored...after all I've seen couple on talks shows that have done it before, why not give it a try? I did a search on Yahoo and found this forum and hopefully I can find some help and sponsorship.
I need everything dress, flowers cake, make-up, invitations and all and out planning...actually any help that any one can offer will be much appreciated and will not only help me and my husband but can help your business as well, because a few of my girlfriends are planning weddings and you will have a chance to showcase who you are and what you do.
I am hoping against hope that someone would be able to offer some type of assistance or tell me where else I need to do or look.
