Does anyone know where I can buy white plastic columns? The lowest price I've found is $64. That seems kind of expensive for plastic. Thanks for all the help.
If you really need plastic columns, the cheapest idea is to rent. If you still want to buy, try Shindigz or other Prom-Type vendors. If you can use plaster columns, you can get them at a Michaels or AC Moore for around $20 each (I've purchased them as low as $10 on sale!). The only thing is that they are only about 3' tall.
I recently purchased white 36" columns from K-Mart ($15 each)- Great deal !! smile!)
Columns can also be made from PVC pipe and a wood base...
And a "foam" lid- which can be shaped to "look" carved.. Then the PVC pipe is sprayed with texture paint .. It is time consuming- how ever you can save $$$ ....
Hey I need white columns too, but I can't rent them b/c I am going to cut them to fit them around the ugly wooden poles at the Beach house. If anyone has found any let me know. Thanks
Amanda
To cover pilings..
You can wrap white corregated cardboard( available through Stumps and Shindigz) around them and staple.. It is a pretty sturdy material.. We've done this in the past.. It will hold plastic pots full of fern/ greenery and flowers as well....
I went to that website but it's computer graphics. I'm still looking for white plastic columns for cheap price. Spring is coming. Maybe i'll find some now.
I'm doing columns at the church for my daughter's wedding. I have PVC pipe for columns, but how can I do the base? The columns will be along the aisle. Any ideas??? Thanks in advance.
Hey Renita, thanks for the referral, but the website is artesiandesigns.com. As far as PVC pipe capitals and bases I have some, and will be getting a new line that is for different diameters soon.
Thanks to everyone who responded to my request for help. I found several different websites. One of the best is rotonics.com. Check it out for columns.
What is the size are you looking for and at what do you feel is a reasonable price to rent them in the Illinois area? Add up your cost for making them yourself wood base, pvc pipe, paint , and maybe sand to make them heavy enough not to tip over. Then please tell us what you would pay to rent them. We will put together a wedding package for chair covers and sashes, candelabras, or vases and columns at a reasonable price that fit your budget.
I'm Getting Married in May and we are renting the columns. I found that it is cheaper than trying to make them. We're using 6 -72" columns and they rent for $15 each. Good Luck. If you want to make them, Use the corragated plastic roofing then use white lights inside to illuminate them. Cost=approx $12-$15ea
