I am not a happy bride when it came to visiting the Costa Mesa, CA and the Santa Ana, CA store and was VERY upset to find that after making an appt to view dresses and expect customer service when I arrived at the store, no one greeted me at all. As well, I waited well over an hour after my appt was made and other brides shopping in the store said Good Luck getting someone to even ask if you need help. Needless to say, I am passing the word in a wide network of what would have been potential customers to say that David's Bridal does NOT employ corteous and attentive employees. NEVER would I want to shop there and a bride should feel like a PRINCESS, let alone at least a normal customer.
I completely agree with all of you that David's Bridal is a terrible store. I am a bride-to-be in Miami, FL and my mom and I had the unfortunate experience of going to the David's here in Coral Gables. We had first gone to Alfred Angelo, where we were greeted as soon as we walked in the door, and my consultant spent 3 hours helping me dress, giving me opinions, getting dresses for me, etc. I found a dress there, but my mom suggested we go to David's to be sure the one I found was "the one." We drove towards Coral Gables and I had trouble locating the store so I called them for exact directions. The girl on the phone informed me that we had to have an appt. And the only one available for the day was 4:00 and because it was now 3:45 she didn't think I could make it. I assured her that I was right around the corner and would be there so please give me that one. She reluctantly agreed and about 5 min. Later we were walking in the store. It took about 5 min. Or so before anyone even said hello, and when I told them I had an appt. The lady had me register. Fine, I did that and was then left sitting there, again. Meanwhile, my mom was looking around and no one said a word to her. Not a single word to the woman who was willing to spend money in the store if I found the perfect dress. Well, mom was definitely not happy about that. Anyway, I got up and finally started looking at dresses on my own, and when I had pulled one to try on, someone finally came to help me. She took me to a dressing room, gave me a pair of shoes (that were too small) and left me there. My mom had to try to help me get into a dress that was too small, and we both were fed up. It was ridiculous. I don't expect to be treated as a princess, but if you've ever tried on a wedding dress, you know that it generally requires help to get into one. I think it's important, at a bridal salon or not, that a retail salesperson helps the customer. I've worked retail before and you have to be attentive to the customers - they're the reason that you have a job. Needless to say, we left everything there and returned to Alfred Angelo the next day to a wonderful consultant and we bought my dress there. Additionally, my dress is actually my dress, not one that a bunch of people have tried on. Alfred Angelo orders new dresses for their brides so I know that my dress is clean, not damaged, and will reamain that way because it's mine. I will constantly recommend to people to avoid David's and the corporation should take note of these complaints. It obviously is not a regional issue as there are messages all over this board from around the country. David's needs to look at their hiring procedures and shoppers need to stop shopping there when they have a bad experience from the beginning. Stop giving them your money if they don't treat you right. It's a special day and trying on dresses should be fun and enjoyable.
