David's Bridal Truly Is Bad

I am not a happy bride when it came to visiting the Costa Mesa, CA and the Santa Ana, CA store and was VERY upset to find that after making an appt to view dresses and expect customer service when I arrived at the store, no one greeted me at all. As well, I waited well over an hour after my appt was made and other brides shopping in the store said Good Luck getting someone to even ask if you need help. Needless to say, I am passing the word in a wide network of what would have been potential customers to say that David's Bridal does NOT employ corteous and attentive employees. NEVER would I want to shop there and a bride should feel like a PRINCESS, let alone at least a normal customer.

Re: David's Bridal Truly Is Bad
First, I would like to thank all you ladies for your comments- positive and negative. I'm planning on going to the David's in Pinole, CA this Sunday and your messages have definately clued me in to what I should expect- anything and everything. Has anyone been to that store? If so, is there someone helpful that anyone can recommend to me? I am sorry that most of you had very bad experiences- I'm hoping that mine will be at the very least not so painful. Again, thanks for your concerns ladies but I think that I will give it a fair shot. Also thanks for the comment that no one is obligated to buy anything from anywhere. I'll go to David's with that clearly in mind. Along those same lines I totally agree- if you're not satisfied with the service of the person you're dealing with keep asking for someone else until you get someone you feel comfortable doing business with- someone helpful, knowledgeable and DESERVING of your business.

As for person with the bad attitude towards customers- I'm not going to waste too much of my time or energy on someone as unhappy as you. So all I have to say is that you shouldn't bite the hand that feeds you.

As for the "princess treatment" comments- brides and their attendants pay a lot of money at these types of establishments so at the very least we should be treated with good service by people that know what they're selling. I'm not saying that gives some brides-to-be the excuse to treat people badly. All I'm saying is that when you walk into any service oriented establishment the people that work there should have a certain level of knowledge about what they're selling. If they don't know the answers right away, they should be resourceful enough to ask someone that does. And what happened to common courtesy? You can't just leave someone you've been "helping" and run off to lunch without telling them or finding someone else to help them while you're gone! That is downright rude and unprofessional.

Regarding wedding dress sizing- my sister got married 2 months ago and I accompanied her to at least a dozen bridal shops and we were told by all of them that wedding gowns run small. They all told us it's common knowledge in the bridal gown business. (I'm not in the business but even I knew that, Layla.) My sister, who has been a size 5-6 for most of her life, fit perfectly in all the size 10 wedding dresses she tried. Ladies, you're going to "love" this- I've heard from several sources that for the past 40-50+ years clothing companies have been making clothes "bigger". So a size 8 today would have been a size 12 back in the 1920's and 30's. Wedding gowns still follow sizing guidelines from that era. So when they say that Marilyn Monroe was a size 13- she was probably a size 10 by today's standards. I know it's a small blow to one's ego- believe me cause I'm not a "peteite" girl- but I think that no matter what size she is every bride is beautiful on her wedding day.
