January Wedding

I am getting married in January and have chosen a snowflake/winter wonderland theme. The colors I am using are going to be diamond white, sapphire blue, and silver. I am having a lot of trouble finding a cake topper and I have no idea what to do for a bouquet. Any ideas?

Re: January Wedding
Liz, I am getting married in December and am having a snowflake wedding cake. The cake is designed so that you do not need to have a cake topper -- if you would like me to email you a picture of it, I'd be more than happy to if you provide your email address. I personally think the cake is gorgeous and elegant.

Just a suggestion for your bouquet -- you could limit the amount of flowers in your bouquet and use leaves, xmas type bulbs, and greens (the florist can spray the leaves, bulbs, etc the colors in your wedding). Perhaps you can even incorporate holly into the bouquet as it's quite festive. I belive there are a few saphire colored flowers that can be used.

Your wedding will be gorgeous -- good luck.

Re: January Wedding
Liz, I'll email the picture to you tonight when I get home from work (I'm at work now and the picture's not on my computer). It's saved as a jpg file so don't be surprised at it's size and the amount of time it may take to download. The picture is of a cake done by a local high-end grocery store here in the Minneapolis, MN area (they do fabulous cakes -- their bakery is amazing). I am getting married in WI though and simply took the picture to my bakery and told them to duplicate the cake. So far, they haven't had any issues with the cake.

I hope you like it -- let me know!

Re: January Wedding
Nancy, I just sent off the picture. It's a jpg file so it's a bit large - it may take a bit to download.

I hope you like the cake!

Re: January Wedding
Instead of a wedding topper you could use flowers instead. As for your bouquet there are several things you could do. Your colors are very beautiful together. What type of bouquet are you planning on having? Will it be fresh or silk? There are dark blue flowers that you can use that dont have to be sprayed. Let me know if you want to know ideas or anything like that about flowers..:) I work with them everyday..:) You can email me at angwillard@yahoo.com.

Re: January Wedding
Here are a few ideas:

For your cake topper, use a snow globe. You can find them in all themes, shapes, sizes, and price ranges. You can even use snow globes for your centerpieces.

As for a bouquet...try this! Buy silk flowers in any light color to build your bouquet. Use a shiny metallic silver spray paint (available at any craft store) to convert them to silver. Compliment the boquet with streamers and ribbons in your wedding colors. It is a very unique look. People will be asking you where you got your bouquet!
