Honeymoon

Is it acceptable to "register" for our honeymoon by setting up an account with a travel agent? My fiancee and I have been living together for years and would much prefer contributions towards an amazing trip, rather than some more household items that we do not need or want!
Please advise!
Thanks
Laura

Re: Honeymoon
No, it's not acceptable to register for a honeymoon. Your guests should not be put into the position of funding your vacation for you. Book a honeymoon that you and your fiance can afford. Although, your travel agent will of course tell you otherwise. He or she has other motives entirely .

If you don't want to receive gifts, then don't register for any. Most of your guests will opt to give you a gift of money. You can then use that money towards whatever you like.

Re: Honeymoon
It is very acceptable. You can register where ever and register for whatever you want. If your guests want to they will choose to go where you registered. If not thats fine. There is no law saying where you can and cannot register. I have heard of a few people doing this also. I know a few others who registered someplace for a photographer. There is no harm in it and if you guests see nothing wrong with it and choose to help you then thats great.

Re: Honeymoon
If you want to know what's acceptable by society's social standards, then no you should not register for honeymoons. If you want to know the what's acceptable by today's greedy wedding industries and clueless brides, then yeah you can register for a honeymoon. Don't fall into that "I know people who did this so it's okay" trap.

Melissa is ultimately correct though - you CAN do whatever you want. But remember that just because you CAN do something doesn't necessarily mean you SHOULD.

Re: Honeymoon
Linda, as with all of your posts I agree with you 100%. It's obvious you know proper etiquette and how to be a gracious host.

Melissa, based on your post I can only imagine the other types activities you feel are acceptable for a bride to partake in in regards to wedding preparation.

Re: Honeymoon
Like i said before. It depends on where you are in the country or state. Also on your families and friends. Where ever you guys are from we do it differently here. So everyone needs to take things into consideration, where you are things are done differently so stop putting people down when you don't even know things are done where they are.

Proper etiquette, varies where you are. So please put that into consideration.

Re: Honeymoon
Melissa, sometimes things are different depending on where you live, but registering for a honeymoon has nothing to do with where you live.
