I am a school teacher and the man I'm going to marry has a son. We got engaged on new year's eve. This summer is too close and next summer is too far away. Problem is... If we get married during the school year... It is almost impossible to have a honeymoon. If we get married during the summer... We'd have to take his son with us b/c we will have him for the summer. Any ideas??
Do you have a spring break? If so, that's an option.
If, like my school district, you just have a few days off at Easter, that could still work too. I don't know how you feel about Vegas, but it's relatively cheap, pretty nice weather at Easter time, and there are tons of packages for 3-5 days.
If you don't like that idea, perhaps consider this: will your school district let you take any "personal days" for your honeymoon? (Most won't give you paid time off, but you never know.) If not, you may be able to take a few days unpaid, latch them on to a weekend, and still be able to get away for a few days at pretty much anytime during the year that you want.
And my last suggestion - if you have your stepson all summer, would it be possible for him to spend a week or so with "Grandma" or an aunt? I don't think your spending a week on a honeymoon should be a big deal as long as he is in good hands, and understands that you are not ditching him.
