I am 19 years old and a freshman in college. I've been with my boyfriend, who is 21, for 9 months now and we have just started talking about marriage. We are talking about a date this summer, and I was just wondering everyone's opinion on getting married at the young age of 19.
I'm 19 now but I'll be 20 when I get married. I think that marriage is a state of being prepared and a number shouldn't matter. My fiancee was in Iraq and while he was there we both realized how short life can be and we don't want to wait any longer just becuase some people might think we are too young.
I am 18 and getting married this summer. The reactions I have gotten have been mixed, but those that know me best understand it totally. Me and my finance have been together for three years, and in love for seven. Crazy as it sounds, in love. I grew up really young, and just have matured much quicker than most. Your marriage is just that, YOUR marriage. If know, you just know. Your wedding and marriage is a happy, exciting time. There is nothing wrong with getting married young, age is only a number.
P.s. My finance is 23, so fincialy we are stable. If your marriage is going to be a complete fincial disaster from the beginning, consider waiting. Love is love, but it takes money to live.
Ideally I think all parents would rather their children wait until their personalities become somewhat more concrete before indulging in such a serious commitment. There are, however, marriages that begin young and last a lifetime. With the current divorce rate peaking at about 50%, it's crucial that you understand the depth of this promise and what it entails. I am 19 almost 20 myself, a junior in college (graduated h.s. Early) and am engaged to be married at the beginning of June this year. My fiance is almost 26 and has a stable career in the military. (he's a lifer! :) ) There are many important things you need to realize before you decide either which way. Just becareful. In all honesty, we decided to get married through the Catholic church and the process which you must undergo was what sealed the deal for myself. It made me realize the magintude of marriage, and even more importantly, made me realize that I'm willing to accept this. Good luck to you.
