Hello I am from georgia and I am trying to do the same thing become a wedding singer, I have a couple of Ideas I think the first thing you have to do is hire a drummist and keyboardist, and you would pay them according to your number of books. The problem I am having is the pay scale trying to figure out how wedding singers base there pay.Is it hourly or by the number of songs. Aslo another thing is look for auditions people looking for vocalists to be a wedding singer.
Hey, I was trying to figure out the same thing. I was talking with a friend and he told me that he goes to wedding conventions. The advice he gave me was to make a CD, put songs on it that show off your voice (range, variety, etc). When you go, hand out copies of your CD to different couples looking for singers to sing at the church ceremony or the reception. Hope this helps!
I was thinking about the same thing. I have a myspace account and my fiance has one too, he also has his own music myspace profile and we thought maybe, we could go back to the recording studio he went to for his first CD and make another one with both of us singing duets and solos. After that, we can create our own myspace music profile letting people know that we offer to sing at weddings among any other kind of event that would requre music entertainment. I think that we are going to do it for sure, we are getting married in July and on Jan. 19th I am singing tat one of my good friends weddings and that is how I got the idea. We are also really good friends with a local DJ that we do karaoke with every couple weeks, so he could help us out by providing the music equipment and the karaoke CD's to go along with it. We are just getting geared up for the American Idol and Nashville Star auditions this year! Hope that helps a little bit, good luck and let me know any info that you recieve.
Hey girls, I AM a real wedding singer, and this is what you do...start going to church. It's that easy. Start going to church and get to know the clergy there. Then, let them know that you are available to sing at wedings. It is easier to sart off that way, by doing it at the service. Then, you get your name out there and you can establish yourself as a professional vocalist. You don't want to call yourself a wedding singer, it is a professional vocalist. If you desire a band to sing with, look on Craigslist and advertise your services that way to hook up with a band.....however, the best and fastest way to make money singing is at funerals. They have funerals during the week days, your always done before noon and you don't have to work on weekends. Now, did I give you enough info?
I've also heard about singing at funerals. How do you start doing this? Should I just contact churches in my area and let them know that I'm available for that?

You become a "wedding/funeral singer" in the same way you do anything else. You get out there and start knocking on doors. You spend money and advertise (very little in life comes free). You meet and greet every chance you get. You need to have accompaniment already established before you get the gig. Otherwise chances are good you will sound like you are just muddling through. Hook up with a musician or two now. Not after the fact. Advertise on Craig’s list or in your local musician’s rags that you are an available vocalist looking for a band or single musician. Clearly state what type of music you do well. Go to piano bars on open mic night and hang out (that’s how I hooked up with my piano player). Be active and get out there... Every night… It’s a numbers game. You have to knock on 100 doors to get 10 people interested, out of those 10 1-2 may hire you. So the more doors you are willing to knock on, the better chances you have. It’s pretty much that simple.
Yeah... I was thinking about maybe becoming a wedding singer when I was sixteen. I'm still at school, I know I'm young, but I am a good singer (not to brag) and I have had a good bit of experience. I just want to earn some money doing something I'm good at.
I just quit my job and my mom wants me to sing at weddings, not just family weddings. I don't want to go through all of that work, especially with competiton, so I guess I'll just wait for an offer since many people have seen me sing at other places.

Hey I have always sang at weddings and funerals. I'm 30 years old but I have been singing at people's weddings and funerals since the age of about 14 or 15. So I just decided to start using my gift to bring in income. I'm the praise and worship leader at my church so a lot of people hear me sing and want me to sing for different events. My only things is I don't know how to charge people, by the hour? If someone could please help me answer this
