Quiver is a 6 piece Latin Jazz band based in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
Casey Greene’s original compositions are fresh and inspiring, reflecting his experience in performing the music of Casey Greene - Saxophones and flutes Australian born, Casey Greene studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of music and graduated in Jazz Studies in 1985. He performed for many years in musical theatre orchestras including West Side Story, Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Chicago . He has also worked with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra for the Ray Charles tour at the Sydney Opera House, performed with the Olivia Newton-John Show, toured with various bands in Australia, USA , Malaysia , Singapore , Hong Kong , New Zealand Middle East, Spain , Ireland and Switzerland and the UK . He has worked with many leading Australian Jazz musicians and as a leader he formed his own trio, sextet and the Australian "Quiver”. Casey has appeared as guest artist in many Australian CD recordings and produced his own CD Urban Habits that was released on the La Brava label in 1997. . Now living in the UK Casey has reformed Quiver and is busy performing throughout the UK with this band and other ensembles. Quiver's new CD “Cous Cous” was released on Rehab Records in May 2007 Simon King - Guitar Simon has been playing professionally for 10 years and has played with many influential jazz musicians, including Randy Brecker, Jonny King, Pete King, Tim Garland, Alan Barnes, Anthony Kerr and Norma Winstone. Simon won the Musician's Union Outstanding Musician Prize in 2003 and 2005, was a finalist in the 2001 Perrier Young Jazz Musician competition and has performed his own works on BBC Radio 2. He completed post graduate studies after graduating with a 1st class honours degree from Leeds College of Music and now plays for several groups around the West of England, including his own Octet, and with power trio 'The Liquid Theory' with Ian Palmer and Danny Preston. Edgar Macias - Piano Venezuelan born, now living in Birmingham , Edgar is equally at home with Jazz and Latin Genre. He has performed with Wynton Marsalis, Jean Toussaint, Loren Schonberg (US) Peter King, Alan Barnes, Steve Waterman, Don Weller, Don Lusher, The Swingle Singers, Tony Levin, and the tap dancer (USA, London based) Will Gaynes. And on the Salsa scene, Tito Gómez (ex Ray Barretto lead singer). Edgar leads his own band “ Edgar Macias Latin Combo” “Fox Hunt” is his new CD available on Rehab Records . Roger Inniss - Bass As a self-taught musician Roger began to listen to and study everything from Bix Beiderbecke to Roland Kirk, Eric Dolphy to Cecil Taylor, rock, pop, country - anything that would give him the opportunity to perform expressively. Over the years he has spent most of his time touring, gigging, recording or working on projects with other creative people, including sculptors, actors and visual and musical artists. "It's all about the spirit and the vibe" he says when describing his reasons for being involved in projects. "I love it when individuals bring their skills and expertise together and develop something that is totally unique to that time and space ....... When we all give but we all receive as well .. that's my vibe man." UK. France, Germany, USA, Japan, Cuba, wherever Roger has gone he has sought out this truth and answered it's call. Carl Hemmingsley - Drums Carl was awarded the Kenny Clare Drum Award as the "most exciting drummer on show"in the BBC Big Band competition. Still at the age of 18 he was featured on a special programme on BBC Radio 2 as one of the major award winners. A crucial member of both the Tim Amann Xtet since 1996 and the Walsall Jazz Orchestra from 1989, Carl is a professional musician. He is familiar with a variety of musical styles and regularly plays in soul and rock bands as well as jazz. He currently also plays with Ruby Turner, Steve Tromans (modern jazz) and with the Solid Soul Collective (soul-funk). Carl has performed with John Dankworth, Julian Arguelles, Guy Barker and, in his most recent visit to Birmingham, with Wynton Marsalis. Wilmar Sinfontes - Congas & Percussion Venezuelan percussionist, Wilmer Sifontes has been performing for over 18 years. He originaly studied with percussionists Orlando Poleo, Alberto Borregales and Andres Briceño. Wilmer has toured extensively throughout South America, Europe and Asia including Womad (UK 1998), North Sea Jazz Festival (Holland 2001), Beijing International Festival (China 2001), Bath International Festival (UK 2002), Sea Side Jazz Festival (Croatia 2005), The Royal Festival Hall, Swaledele Festival, Kijanikenya Festival in (Kenya) and Warwick festival. He has performed with Giovanni Hidalgo ( Puerto Rico), Maelo Ruiz, Luisito Carrion, Adalberto Santiago, Henry Fiol, Ray Ramos ( Puerto Rico); Rodolfo Aicardi, Alci Acosta and Ricardo Fuentes (from Colombia). Sidestepper, Salsa Nueva and Aterciopelados (Colombia) He runs his own band's in London which are “Ensamble Criollo Latino” (traditional Venezuelan Music) and Conjunto Sabroso (Salsa music).
