Song After Vows

Song After Vows

I am getting married in a Catholic Church. Does anyone have any ideas for good songs to sing after we take our vows.

Um, I dont think the CHurch allows Shania Twain. I would choose something classical, maybe "Greensleeves" or "Ave Maria" or if you haven`t used it in the processional, "Pachables Cannon" or "The Wedding Song".

Re: Song After Vows

Most Catholic Churches tend to be very strict about what music is allowed, and generally speaking only “Church” music is allowed.
Here are some musical selections that most Catholic Churches would consider appropriate: Rigaudon by Andre’ Campra, Ave Maria by Bach or Gounod, The Prince of Denmark’s March by Clarke, Ode to Joy by Beethoven, Panis Angelicus by Franck, St. Anthony Chorale by Haydn, Con Moto Maestoso (from Organ Sonata III) by Mendelssohn, Canon by Pachelbel, Trumpet Voluntary by Stanley.
Also, the following musical selections by Bach: Sheep May Safely Graze; Rejoice Beloved Christians; Sleepers, Awake; Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring; Air on the G String; Arioso
In addition, the following musical selections by Handel: Air; Pastoral Symphony (excerpt from Messiah); Where’er You Walk (from Semele); Largo; Coro; Hornpipe (from Water Music); Let the Bright Seraphim (from Samson)
And finally, these last two musical selections by Purcell: Rondeau or Trumpet Tune
I strongly recommend that you speak with the Church’s coordinator to get approval for your musical selections (for your wedding gown style as well, since many Catholic Churches don’t allow strapless, spaghetti straps, sleeveless or cap sleeves).
Please let me know if there is anything further I can do to help you. Best wishes to you and your fiancé for a beautiful wedding and a joyful life together!
