50th....50th..anniversary

Please help me. I am planning a 50th anniversary party for my parents. We want to have a card shower but instead of the cards going to their home, I want them to come to ours. Our plan is to have everyone write down a special memory, funny story or enclose a picture they may have of themselves and my parents. The purpose of having them come to me is so I can create a memory book and present it to them at the party. My problem is I'm having difficulty with the wording of my request. What I have now seems too wordy and almost gives the impression that all we want is the cards, and not them to attend the party. If someone could help me, I would be very appreciative. The party is in a month and I really need to get the invites out as soon as possible. Thank

I am planning a 50th anniversary Card Shower for my parents. I'd like to have friends/family write down a special memory, funny story or enclose a picture they may have of themselves and my parents. I will then create a memory book and present it to them on their anniversay. But I am having a difficult time with the wording of my request. Please help with suggestions or sample wording. Thank you!

I wish I had an answer I really need help too. I was thinking of sending a paper with questions to help them get started thinking. Any ideas?

Re: 50th....50th..anniversary
Send an invitation (part 1) and then a second paper (part 2) with the request to share a story or picture. The guest returns part 2 to you and keeps part 1 for themselves. Part 2 also serves as your RSVP.

Re: 50th....50th..anniversary
Hi, I am doing a 50th anniversary for my in-laws. We sent an announcement of a card shower. We asked that people submit the best and worst advice my in-laws ever gave them. We asked for their advice for the next 50 years. And we asked that they mail a picture of themselves that my in-laws would have a hard time recognizing them in. It could be an old picture or a current one. We haven't decided how to use all this yet, but we thought it was a good start.
Good Luck!

Re: 50th....50th..anniversary
I had better clarify from my last post. I am looking for wording a letter to relatives for a memory or funny story from them for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. I would also like them to send a picture. Any suggestions on how to properly set up a letter to that effect would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: 50th....50th..anniversary
I took the reply cards in the do-it-yourself invitation pack, and made them "memory cards". I just did a printed insert in the anniversary invitations that said:
'Please keep this a suprise!
Your presence is the best gift to give.
Please share a special memory or good wishes on the enclosed card, and bring it to the dinner for the Memory Book. If you cannot attend, please return it in the enclosed envelope. Thank you!"
-And enclosed self-adressed, stamped envelopes for the out-of-town guests.

Re: 50th....50th..anniversary
I'm also planning a 50th for my parents. I made memory / advice cards which will be by each place setting with a gold personaized pencil with their names and March 3,1957-2007 imprinted on them. I chose pencils because pens were pricey. Oriential Trading sells these and they're very inexpensive. For the cards I made them postcard size. Gold colored ink with a 50th embossed on them. Came out very classy. Use 110 lb card stock and Printshop. At the party I'll remind people to fill them out and leave them on the tables. At the end of the night they'll be put in a 4 X 6 photo album which I found in Ivory with a weddingcake design at the Ragshop for $1. The pencils make cute little favors too. Also have gold photo frames by each place setting. Half have their original wedding photo and half have their current photo. We're alternating pictures from one place setting to the next.. Idea being that every couple will get a set of 1957 & 2007 photos. Also giving each person a jordon almond favor. Gold organza pouch with the history of the jordan almond tag and a personalized ribbon bow attached. Real gold jordan almonds are gorgous but $24 a lb so I mixed white with Ivory and Gold. And I made Memory / Love and Laugher cards. They're business size cards with photos of guests with my parents on one size and marriage jokes, riddles and trivia on the other. There will be one set of 24 of these cards scattered at each table. Figured they'd be good ice breakers. Hope this helps. It's been rather difficult finding what I need in Gold but thanks to ebay I did. Good luck ladies. Did you all ask the whitehouse to send your parents their 50th card??? Still waiting for mine. Takes about 6 weeks.
