Alexandria performs regularly in the Chicago-area's top venues and events, and teaches bellydance and fitness classes in her own dance studio
Alexandria established herself as a professional bellydancer in Detroit, Michigan over ten years ago. She since has performed in nightclubs, restaurants, concerts, and weddings across the United States as well as internationally. Her unique style reflects both the soul of middle-eastern dance as well as her background in jazz and ballet. Alexandria studied with internationally acclaimed Shadia, of Detroit, and has supplemented her training with workshops from some of the most renowned contemporary instructors, such as Yousry Sharif, Dahlena, and Mohamed Shahin.
Alexandria has performed in over 13 countries and as least as many states, opening for star singers such as Fadl Shaker, Andy, Assi Hillani, Rageb Alama, Shadi Jamil, Nour M'Hanna, and Milhelm Baraket, as well as dancing in long-term contracts in 5-7 star hotels in the Middle East. She has been featured on MTV-Beirut, Orbit TV of Lebanon, NBC Channel 4 and TV Orient in Detroit, and Upscale Chicago TV, Chicago Tonight, 190 North, Telemundo, and Check Please! in Chicago. She is possibly the only bellydancer to have been interviewed and then danced on live radio with Chicago's 105.9 FM Stan&Terry Show.
After performing extensively in the Middle East and traveling the United States both as a dancer and spokes model, she decided to relocate to Chicago. Currently, Alexandria is the house dancer at some of Chicago's premiere middle-eastern clubs and restaurants, and performs regularly, both as a solo act and in dance ensembles, for upscale corporate and special events and family parties. Recent performances include multiple events at the Chicago Art Institute, Field Museum, the Assyriology International Convention, Lincoln Park Zoo Ball, the Chicago Rehab Institute annual fundraiser, and a birthday party for Bono of U2.
Alexandria has resumed teaching and recently began sponsoring master instructors for workshops as part of her effort to both preserve the tradition and heritage of bellydance and to augment its exposure to mainstream culture. The current popularity of bellydancing transcends cultural boundaries further than ever, appealing to women of all ages and social backgrounds as a means of connecting with their femininity, as well as for fun and fitness.
