How We Got Started.
DeMario's Shaved Ice was conceived as an idea during early part of 2000 when a 12 year old boy (DeMario Thornton) told his dad that he wanted to sell Sno Cones, Hawaiian Shaved or whatever they are called. He said the man across the street sold them but he was never open. So now we were in the market of buying our first shaved ice machine, a Hytasha ice shaver. We purchased a food service cart and a transporting trailer. Mr. and Mrs. Bob and Lillian Haines of Summer Snow sold us five flavors and gave us a crash course in the shaved ice business. We only sold on Saturdays on the corner in front of our house; its a busy corner, trust me. Later that year we purchased an enclosed shaved ice trailer, air conditioned and equipped with an Old New Orleans Style ice shaver. We sold daily during spring and summer. We did special events and rented out the portable aluminum cart. We added hot dogs, pop corn, chips and nachos and became ABC Concessions.

ABC Concessions
This was a thriving operations and occasionally we would add hot fish and even BBQ Ribs to the menu. We had to hire help, the growth was too much for Demario. During 2001, one Saturday while selling, we visited a neighbor across the street who had inquired about renting a sno cone machine for a birthday party. When we got there they were blowing us this huge balloon in the back yard. WHAT IS THAT? She said a "Moonwalk" She said "children love those things, they will jump all night if you let them. We got the manufacturers's name and on Monday ordered our first Inflatable unit, "The Lion King". Later during the season we purchased three more, two moonwalks and a giant slide.

Family and Friends
As business grew, so did the need for additional personnel. The growth was due to print media by our parent company, ABC Custom Graphics, Inc., word of mouth by satisfied customers and mainly by Sunday Morning Radio Gospel hosted by Ron Marshall. We use our family and friends to service the needs of our customers. Our business has grown from moonwalks to full party supply and rental. store. In December 2002, the business purchased a building in Bessemer, Alabama to expand and better serve the community with two convenient locations.

ABC Concessions & Party Rentals
Today the business has a fleet of four delivery vehicles, over 30 inflatable units, from trikes to train; warehouses, an inventory on hand to service the needs of our customers; from 10 to 10,000. You will find that the staff and management are people who are customer and service oriented. We are a people driven company. You will find that our employees are uniformly dressed and are very courteous. Our equipment is Safe and Affordable; Cleanliness is not an option. The company is owned and operated by Ron Marshall and Monroe Thornton. Ron is responsible for Marketing, Logistics, and Operations; Monroe oversees Administration, Purchasing and Inventory. Every successful organization has one person that keeps everything moving smoothly, and that is Virginia Johnson. Virginia is very warm, personable and knowledgable about your party needs; she gets things done. We have custom packages for Fun Days, Individuals, Corporate Events, Non-Profit Organizations, Schools, Churches and Organizations.
