Father’s Day

Father’s Day

Oh, Father’s Day; we envision funny and masculine cards, sock bouquets as opposed to Flower Bouquets, gift baskets filled with ties, and large banners saying “The Best Dad I’ve Ever Had.” Is your father conservative, jock, or is he a silly prankster? Either way, now is the time to show him just how much you have appreciated all the masculine things he has done for you, like teach you how to wash a car, throw a football or tie a tie.

The best thing to do on Father’s day is ask him what HE wants to do. He might just want to find himself cozied up on his favorite recliner watching sports, or he may want to have guests over to celebrate as a family. If the latter is the case, secretly invite all of your family and dad’s best friends over for a night of fun games, food, and activities. Arrange and plan the party according to what your father would like; i.e. his favorite colors, foods, games, and music. If you want to make it a sport theme party, try and arrange things around his favorite team. Have everyone come in costumes from the year your father was born; this will make for some hilarity.

What dad doesn’t love BBQ? A backyard BBQ is probably a perfect idea to feed the guests; or you can find a catering company that will bring you all of your pops favorites like burgers, hot dogs, and hot links. A fun addition to the party would to get a personalized Father’s day cake; maybe in the shape of a tie, or a football, or his favorite car.

Keeping the younger kids busy should be a doozy if you simply rent a bounce house or a wet slide for the yard. For the adults, hook up a karaoke machine, than dad can show off his super singing skills and be the rock star he’s always wanted to be. To top off the event, surprise your pop with a slide show of his life events; from the day he was born to the present. Dads usually try to hold in their tears, but this is sure to be a tear-jerker.
