America’s most patriotic holiday ever, Independence Day was professed in 1776 to commemorate the implementation of the Declaration of Independence. Also known as the Fourth of July, it seems as if everything in America turns to red, white and blue on this day. Flags are thrown up across the nation, balloons and balloon arches line the neighborhood yards and decorate park parties. Traditionally, families and friends like to enjoy a picnic at the park or lakeside; so, break out the BBQ, the patriotic table linens and serve ware.
With all of the American favorites like burgers, hot dogs, potato salads, macaroni salads, chips and dips, this picnic will be as patriotic as they come. Hire a food truck for the day, or a food cart, and relax as the BBQ work is done for you. A red, white and blue beverage bar will bring more to this patriotic atmosphere, as well as quench your guests’ thirst; if you want to add a little excitement to the party, make some red, white and blue jello shooters for the adults.
Have everyone come decked out in their patriotic gear, and hold a “best dressed” contest. Make a gift basket filled with patriotic goodies for the winner. Host a trivia game with questions about our country; with each correct answer, that guest will get a bead necklace. Whoever has the most necklaces at the end of the game can win a gift basket also. Maybe set up a photo booth so people can take silly photos in their patriotic gear, and take them home as party favors. And don’t forget to invest in lots of confetti and fireworks.
