The Performer
After winning the All-Ireland Harp Championship in 1984, Shawna toured the U.S. twice, then settled down in Los Angeles to perform, record and publish her own harp compositions. She has performed at weddings and celebrations in the major hotels and museums in the Los Angeles area, including the Biltmore, The Bonaventure, the Ritz-Carlton, the Beverly Hills Hotel, Hotel Bel-Air, Shutters, the Getty Museum, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Huntington Library and Gardens. She has also performed in other types of cultural and historic venues, such as Greystone Manor, Castle Green, The Wayfarer's Chapel, the Saint James Club, the California Club, Descanso Gardens, The Gamble House, Cal Tech, Disney Studios, Paramount Pictures, Warner Brothers, and Universal Studios, as well as in countless private homes.

The Instruments
There are many different kinds of harps. The most familiar is the classical harp. Seen in formal and orchestral settings, this instrument stands six feet tall and has seven pedals. The Celtic harp is the forerunner of the classical harp. This more intimate instrument stands over five feet tall and while the sound is similar to the classical harp, the style of playing is reminiscent of the classical guitar.

The Repertoire
The repertoire played depends upon the desired atmosphere. You may request elegant classical and baroque, renaissance, holiday, American songbook, popular music and more.

Logistical Requirements
The harp is well suited to both indoor and outdoor settings. Only a 4X4 space is necessary for setup and there are no lighting requirements. The sound of the harp is full and mellow. While amplification is available, it is most often unnecessary.
