Susi - Belly Dancers in Boston
Susi is a Boston-based dancer of Armenian descent. She presents the dance as an expression of joy and beauty mindful of its roots in the culture of the old-country.

Susi is Armenian- American and brings an old-world sensibility to her performances. She is well educated in the music and culture of the Middle East. Her presentation of belly dance is classy, joyful and beautiful. She recreates this classic dance in an exciting, authentic and totally unique manner.

Susi was raised with Armenian and Turkish music at home with her homesick grandparents. As a young woman she became curious about her background and began an intensive study of history, language, music and dance. She traveled regularly to study with dancers and musicians from Turkey, Egypt, Iran, Syria and Lebanon, learning both belly dance and folk dance and the musical genres that accompany the dance. She studied dance intensively with Shadia Tohme in Boston who passed on to her the art of balancing shamadan ( lit candelabra ) and water jug while dancing.

Susi currently runs a dance studio in Boston where she also teaches women and girls the art of belly dance in a culturally appropriate manner, as a women's dance of happiness. She performs regularily in New England. She often presents workshops on dance for school children or at cutlural events as well as beautiful belly dance shows for parties and weddings.
