De Rubeis Fine Airbrush Art
Born in 1978 and showing a very early proclivity for an artist's eye, he was given an airbrush as a gift from his grandfather. Immediately intrigued at the possibilities, he enrolled in a local Parks and Recreation class. Once the 14-year-old learned to control the new instrument, what followed was the beginning of unbridled creativity. What was born from rudimentary lettering and t-shirt art quickly became a body of work capable of spanning the breadth of the whimsical to the sublime. Always intrepid and relying on no singular feature his multi-faceted work has fascinated many. His work creates and in fact, exaggerates depth like no other and is marked by haunting sensuality, achieving a soothing but dynamic texture through the masterful manipulation of light.
Eschewing the mundane and commercial demand for geometric shapes, he prefers to blend the surreal, utilizing a unique style of holographic imagery. Though capable of capturing life on any surface, his preferred medium has become metal. "I favor aluminum because it is soft and pliable and I can combine a form of sculpture as the foundation for my expression." He continues, "Canvas is fun but the metal enhances my ability to communicate emotions more intensely." Chris De Rubeis has earned accolades for his creativity and his style since junior high school. He was inducted into the National Art Community Art Showcase. He has studied at the Pasadena Art Center and the College of Design and the Associated in Art College in Sherman Oaks. His talents have recently been utilized in the entertainment industry which is highlighted by special effects painting and the portraits of the life sized puppets of NSYNC for the 2000 American Music Awards.
Chris feels "all art should inspire thought and evoke emotion.... art should be something you can actually feel." His work is being featured in art expositions, Artis Spectrum Magazine, Agora Galleries, Addi Galleries and capturing the attention of private collectors.
Imagine the possibilities Chris could create at your special party or event. For a unique entertainer that would capture the attention of young and old, call Chris and De Rubeis Fine Airbrush Art.
