When Shelly Tolo founded TOLO Events in 2002, her vision was to assist individuals, companies and non-profits in maximizing their events through strategic planning and creation gun, original and fabulous atmospheres for their guests.
A native of Butler, Pennsylvania, Tolo enjoyed a 12-year career as a development officer for non-profit organizations where she found her niche in event planning and design. During her time as Director of Development and Major Events for Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, Tolo created and produces the hospital's first annual gala in 1999 where 400 people attended and $5000, 000 (net) was raised. IN 2003, the event reached 1,100 people attending and $7.1 million being raised.
"I'm a fund-raiser first" says Tolo. "While I love working with private and corporate clients, it is always a thrill to help non-profit organizations significantly increase their event's net proceeds." In 2004, TOLO Events was recognized as a Gala Award finalist in the category of Best Event Produces for a Non-Profit Organization.
Tolo holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from Messiah College and a Masters of Public Management from Carnegie Mellon University where she concentrated in Nonprofit Organizations.
