Lilac takes pride in her ability to make each photo session unique to you and your family. The time she spends getting to know you both before and during the session guarantee your portraits will capture the spirit of your child.

Lilac does not rely on props or forced smiles, but takes the time to get to know your child through playing, talking, exploring, and just being silly. It is her patient, caring, and relaxed manner that ensures your child feels comfortable showing their inner spirit.

Session Information - Lilac provides for sessions at a location of your choice, both indoor and out. Oftentimes, the best places are those where your child feels comfortable -- such as a park, your home, or backyard. Regardless of location, Lilac ensures she will capture your child with the utmost sense of style and elegance. Sessions can last anywhere from thirty minutes to three hours depending on the number of people and the mood of the child. Newborn sessions typically last between 2-4 hours to allow for nursing, changing, and the comfort of your child. Her goal is to capture beautiful portraits which reveal the essence of your child or family, while her focus is to make sure that everyone is comfortable and having fun. She does not expect your child to perform, but to simply be themselves. This is not your typical photo session where Mom and Dad feel pressure to perform for their child to get a "cheesy" smile. BOOKING YOUR SESSION

Lilac is usually booked several weeks in advance, so be sure to book your appointment early to ensure you get the date you desire. You may book a session either by calling Lilac at (650)245-4369, or via email at lilac@lilacchangphotography.com. Payment in full for the session is due within 5 days of booking to secure your session. Prior to your session, Lilac will contact you to discuss your goals for the shoot. Background information about your family's personality, likes, and dislikes will also be discussed in the effort to tailor your session to fit your family's needs. Together, we will schedule your session at a time of day that works best for your child.

CLOTHING

Clothing should be kept simple and casual for a classic look that will stand the test of time. Busy patterns or logos should be avoided as they are distracting. Solid, light-colored clothing works wonderful for black and white photography. Lilac recommends the following to assist in your clothing selections:

Textured clothing such as cable knits, corduroys, and embroidery adds a beautiful depth to your portraits Sundresses, khakis, and jeans lend themselves well to a classic portrait Hats, tiaras, or any other headwear that your child is drawn to at this phase in their lives help the child be at ease. Bare feet, as they have a way of embodying the free spirit of children Minimal clothing works best with babies to capture the innocence and purity of this short time in your little one's life For group shots, clothing should be kept similar in color and tone for a coordinated look.
