Black Tie Video was founded in **** by Jim and Barbara Skipper on a very basic premise; video coverage of a special event in your life such as a Wedding or Bar Mitzvah doesn't have to be intrusive, irritating, or blinding. That the videographers will be respectful of not only your space but that of your guests. Lastly, it should look professional from start to finish, shot well and edited smoothly together to produce a beautiful document of your day.

What we offer is an approach influenced by Jim's background in the fine arts. After receiving his B.A. with honors in Fine Art Film making from UMBC in the early Eighties, he began a ten-year stint at the Maryland Institute College of Art. During that time he created an extensive library of art related documentaries that have been screened in locations as varied as The Museum of Modern Art in New York to the Public Broadcasting System in Japan.

Enter Barbara, who put her interest in the visual arts to work on endless projects, moving up from assistant to main camera work. The early years of Black Tie Video were spent working together as a team at every event. When the time came to expand in **** we felt that to maintain quality control, two units would be created, one headed by Jim, one by Barbara. We felt that this would create a comfort level for our clients, knowing that one of the owners is at every event that Black Tie covers. Despite more than enough requests for our services to expand further we have maintained this two unit policy for the last decade.

Video is still somewhat new to the wedding field but it is expanding rapidly, and for good reason. After the day has ended, the guests have gone home, and the sounds of your last dance are fading into your memory, you can still relive it all with video. In conjunction with your photographs, a professionally produced video provides an enormously satisfying record of your day. In it you see the tears, hear the laughter, and even review that remarkable dance step Uncle Phil seems to have dreamed up.
