In 1993, Akemi Welsh started Polynesian Paradise, a professional Polynesian dance and drum company specializing in the traditional dances of the South Pacific. Our high energy performance is not a typical Polynesian show. It is better described as a celebration of Polynesian pop Culture in America. It promises to be unforgettable and mesmerizing experience-- so unforgettable that the audience will leave humming our music
Over the years, the Company has had the honor of sharing the hula & other cultures of Polynesia with thousands of Southern Californians, including dignitaries and celebrities. Recent performances include a nightly 8-week run at the Pageant of the Masters (Laguna Beach, CA) and a daily 5-week run of the “Lilo & Stitch Hawaiian Beach Party” at the El Capitan Theater (Hollywood, CA) in which Company Director Akemi Welsh was hired as a Consultant for by Buena Vista Pictures. The Company has also engaged in a 5 month US tour and 9 International tours.
