His style is realistic and more flattering than exaggerated. Teeth braces are removed (no charge) wrinkles are subdued (again, no extra charge) and unsightly protuberances, when they do occur, are minimized to simple identifying characteristics. Norm has been particularly active on the Bar/Bas Mitzvah circuit where he has trained himself to focus amidst the noise and revelry of large parties while enjoying the challenge of flattering the maidens and recording the face of early teendom with a keen eye and well placed marker and graphite strokes. A great joy at all parties is the time when husbands and wives often line up to be drawn together. These occasions are often accompanied by good natured banter and ribbing, and make the party that much more fun for them and the artist. Norm works in black and white and finds this approach best for the completion of the large numbers of portraits usually required at events. During the day Norm is the sole proprietor of Gardenside Graphics, a Long Island based graphic arts company specializing in design needs of small businesses. His graphic assignments often demand his illustration talents and an ongoing interest in drawing led him into developing specific skills for caricature art.
