The FUEL House is uniquely committed to cutting-edge arts and culture. Our mission is clear: We provide the means for emerging artists to display their work in a professional gallery setting. Throughout the year, our gallery features extraordinary exhibitions that create a constantly evolving but consistently amazing backdrop for any event at FUEL.
In fact, our events are more than just special they're spectacular. Imagine the gourmet catering and white-glove service of a premiere restaurant set among the architectural splendor of a soaring 10,000-square-foot neoclassical, turn-of-the-century building.
About The F.U.E.L. House
Located at the corner of Third and Arch streets, The FUEL House is nestled among colonial Philadelphia's top attractions. We're next door to the Betsy Ross House, and within short walking distance of Ben Franklin's home and Independence Hall. The newly restored exterior of the building is adorned with towering columns and floor-to-ceiling windows that evoke America's architectural Renaissance.
From the moment you enter through the hand-carved wooden doors, prepare to be dazzled. Soak in the atmosphere: The classical grandeur of our Grand Hall is inlaid with 2,000-square-feet of while Italian marble complemented by 5,000 square-feet of oak floors. Gaze up at our breathtaking crystal chandelier, the centerpiece of our entrance way, which is enveloped by a stunning wrap-around marble balcony.
These stunning architectural details are housed in a multi-tiered structure, creating an intimate yet opulent space where classic form meets modern function. The House holds a maximum occupancy of approximately 500 people and offers full catering facilities. Other modern conveniences include marble inlaid bathrooms on the first and second floors, a multi-zone high fidelity sound system, and wireless Internet access.
History of The F.U.E.L. House
Constructed in 1902, The FUEL House building was known as The Girard Corn Exchange Bank until 1970. It was placed on the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places in January, 1977, and purchased in 2003 by Yaron Properties, Inc. Shortly after, FUEL was home to MTV's Rea; World Television Program. Approximately $3-million in renovations transformed the space into what it is today.
