Lisa Gomes is available as solo fiddler, strolling musician, as a member of small-group combos or as guest artist for an already-established band.

Lisa Hancock Gomes grew up near Woodstock, New York and attended Vassar College before buying a one-way ticket to Taiwan to learn Chinese. It was there that she learned to switch between reading & playing classical music and playing music by ear, and, in the process, discovered a new world of music and friendships.

Lisa was the fiddler in the following Honolulu bands: Irish Hearts, Bon Ton Roule, The Swampshakers, The Pleasant Peasant Band, and Sherele. She has shared performances with Wolgemut, Dram, and Switchback, and opened for Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas in Hawai`i. She continues to be a guest artist with other noteworthy bands such as the Doolin’ Rakes, Celtic Waves, The Honolulu Blues Co-op, The Eric Petersen Band and Gordon Freitas & Local Folk.

Over the course of her music career, Lisa has performed at various folk festivals in Hawai`i, Ireland, France and Hungary, recorded with the Bucharest Folklorica Ensemble, and has studied with Martin Hayes (Miltown-Malbay, Ireland), Alasdair Fraser (Valley of the Moon, CA) and Barbara Higbie. She has also taught at the International Suzuki Institute in Honolulu (2006 and 2008) and continues to teach sessions for Bluegrass Hawaii Traditional & Bluegrass Music Society. She is fiddler for the JigThis School of Irish Dance, Highland Dancers Hawaii, and the Society for Creative Anachronism, Barony of Western
