About Us Cottonwood Stash came to be back in late '68 as group of 4 young guys living in Phoenix; brothers Greg and Tim Penrose, Dan Strouf and Dan McGruire. Like most of the young guys of the time they were into Dylan, CCR, the Beatles, Cream and Buffalo Springfield (some of the influences you'll still hear sprinkled throughout the Cottonwood Stash set list). With Greg on lead guitar and vocals, Tim on rhythm guitar and vocals, Dan Strouf on drums and Dan McGuire on bass, they played gigs all over the Phoenix area for about three years. Eventually life's distractions interfered and Cottonwood Stash was folded. Around the mid '70's, Tim met Wendy Ross, who just happened to play piano and could, as Tim says, "sing like a birdie". They decided to perform together as a duet and Cottonwood Stash was revived. They found a drummer for the band in Terry Little; a veteran with bands like Midnight Highway, Red Label and Gypsy Road. The reformed Cottonwood Stash trio played all of the standards from the original band along with the best songs of Hank Williams Sr. and Jr., Waylon, Willie, Merle, Crystal Gayle, Linda Rondstadt and others. The mix was well received and the three continued to play steady gigs throughout Phoenix area for the following five or so years. Eventually the wear and tear of late night gigs took its toll and running the band began to feel too much like a job. Tim recognized that when it feels like that, it's time to hang up the old pick so they disbanded. Tim's guitar sat untouched in a hall closet gathering dust until one day in the early '90s. Tim met Belinda in his favorite neighborhood restaurant, Lunt Ave. Marble Club. Great food, pretty, young servers and one in particular that seemed to have a certain something that kept him coming back on a very regular basis. His new love inspired him to pick up that old Telecaster and play a few of the old tunes. Never imagining what lay in store down the road, the die was cast for the third revival of Cottonwood Stash. The inspiration to reprise Cottonwood Stash came in the spring of 2005. The performance bug bit again while performing a selection of Hank Williams, Sr.'s songs at a party in honor of his mother's 80th birthday. Seeing how much people still loved the classic country music he'd always loved to sing and play, it appeared that the time was right to renew the band. Available for all occasions, Cottonwood Stash is now: Tim Penrose on rhythm guitar and lead vocals, Belinda Penrose on bass and lead vocals, Mac Hart on pedal steel and Terry Little on drums. Performing the Classic Country songs that generations have loved, for "All the Good Times to Come"... Available for... For More Information Please Visit The Link Below
