Silk
Silk is a big problem for most carpet cleaners. Too much water can dull the sheen permanently, and for that reason it is usually dry-cleaned yielding poor results at best. Imagine taking a a silk shirt, walking on it for six months, and then sending it to the dry-cleaners. Navajo's low-moisture system is a great alternative for bringing back the luster of expensive silk carpets and rugs. Not only can we get away with less water of silk, we are also simultaneously drying it with soft cotton towels prevents any noticeable loss of sheen.

Needlepoint
Needlepoints area a breed of their own. They have the nap of a looped carpet but their construction is much more delicate. They're not only susceptible to aggressive agitation, but also run a greater rish of shrinkage--especially in the case of Portuguese Needlepoints. Our gentle high-speed blotting and low moisture system is a perfect match for cleaning these beautiful works of art !

Sisal
Sisal is a plant fiber and comes in many different textures and shades. It is very susceptible to moisture and can stain with even the smallest amount of pure water. This happens because the plant fibers are loaded with a natural dye that, when activated with to much moisture, come to the surface leaving a discoloured water-type stain. Cleaning sisal by steam or hot-water extraction is extremely risky. Since the Navajo High-Speed Blotting System requires far less water ( less than a */* cup / gallon used by other wet systems ) and is lightly misted onto the fibers, we can clean sisal without risk of water stains.

Wiltons
Wiltons should be cleaned delicately for several reasons: they are comprised of small delicate loops (often arranged in intricate patterns ) which give the nap a crisp, detailed look. These loops can fray--or break all together if cleaned too aggressively. Since their nap is so finely detailed, any inconsistencies can stand out making a very expensive carpet look worn before its time. Also, Wiltons are always done in wool, so they should not be clened with harsh chemicals or excessive use of water, which again, can destroy the integrity of their finely detailed naps.

Delicate Borders
High-end rugs can come with an array of customized border arrangements. They're often tricky for steam cleaners who have a tough time getting suction against multi-leveled and / or sculpted naps. Not to mention the hazards presented with hand-stitched borders ( SEE: WILTONS ) and delicate fabrics such as silk or jute. The thick ***% cotton towels used by our Navajo High-Speed Blotting machines, perfectly mold themselves to whatever terrain they're faced with--even the most intricate border combinations.

Exotic Blends

KILAMS
Kilams are thin, woven rugs that often come in bright tribal colours and patterns. They run a great risk of shrinking and / or bleeding if cleaned with too much water. In many cases, older, thread-bearing, kilams can be too delicate for even hand-washing. It's safe to say that scraping them with a steam-cleaning wand is out of the question. Navajo's low-moisture, low-pounds per-square-inch blotting system is ideal for these very delicate rugs. And, our acid rinse process is a great way to insure that any wool product is left at its perfect pH balance.
