Often times portrait studios won't accommodate a location shoot and vice-versa so it's extremely important to have in mind which style you want before hand.

When you've gotten in touch with the photographer, ask to see some samples of their work and interview them, do a personality test because you’re dependent on them to bring out the very best in you.
