Re: WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SCORES?
obviously you skipped that math class when they were teaching how to calculate an average of numbers. scores can go up or down depending on the new numbers added to the list.

Re: WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SCORES?
How do you figure 28 points???

There is only (1-10), nothing higher and nothing lower.
It's not complicated yet people like Brenda don't seem to get it. I have to agree with JEDIKNIGHT on this...

Brenda, do you know what "the average" means?

"No, obviously your an idiot!"
Brenda, when you write something like that, try to make sure that you use the correct grammar.
It's "you're" not "your"...

Re: WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SCORES?
BRENDA!

I don't mean to be unkind, but you have been really crude and childlike from what I see of your posts.

The reason why everyone is so confused by your math is that they apparently understand what a DECIMAL POINT means. If you see "71" or a "28"---do you understand what the decimal point in front of them means? It means you are seeing something less than the value of the whole number 1.

It's like going to the store, Brenda. If you see the total $5.71, do you scream at the clerk for charging you $5 PLUS $71 dollars?

All scores are between 1 and 10 and always have been. Have a nice soothing cup of tea, relax, think deep thoughts, and open up your 3rd grader's Elementary Math book and refresh yourself on these concepts.

Thank you, darling.

Re: WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SCORES?
Brenda,

I have fathered enough children to start a Math class. If you teach Math it must be Trailer Park Elementary's remedial class. Speaking of Class...every hear the term used in your earshot? Other than "She's got NONE!".

As I see it, the only thing really different about this voting is that the numbers change by having the total over a specified time period retabulated for that time period's average. Brenda, hasn't it dawned on you by now, with the help of your great math teaching skills, that this is QUITE OBVIOUSLY not a Cumulative scoring system!?

Your first post was inflammatory and accusatory and you have never let up. You invite slams because you so freely go over the top and shoot down everyone and everything. Stop "teaching" Math and go study a 6th Grade Vocabulary book. Learn new words for getting your point across. By the way, are you actually Accredited by a school system somewhere??????

Get off the Internet and go have a life.

Perhaps the two of you should exchange e-mail addresses so that you can carry on this feud in private...

Re: WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SCORES?
In reference to Brenda's question......YES, you're right, Karen is cheating. I wonder how many seals she's given birth to.

Re: WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SCORES?
Brenda and the others-

Brenda, your friend can not loose 28 points. The most she could ever recieve is 10. Take for example that five people voted for her story and they all voted tens.
10, 10, 10, 10, 10 To find the aveage you take the total of 50 and divide it by 5 (the amount of tens), your average is 10. Now lets say that a sixth person votes on her story and that person gives her a 5. Now her votes look like this:
10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 5 Take the total of 55 and divide it by 6 total votes and you get 9.17 (rounded up). Therefore, the average can increase or decrease. Obviously if another person voted another 10 her average would raise from the 9.17 to 9.29. Does this help?

On the other hand, it doesn't mean that this contest still doesn't have it's problems. Many people can go in and vote dishonestly by voting ones for anyone's story but their own or their friends (whatever the circumstance may be). By doing this they can lower the average of other prospects and raise their average. This is unfair.

the only way to solve this would of been for the partypop team to choose only ten of the best stories. If someone wanted to vote on the stories they would have to vote on all ten of them. They would have to number the stories from best to the worst. This would make them use all of the numbers between 1 and 10.

It would be less likely for people to cheat this way. It's too bad partypop didn't think of this before.

Re: WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SCORES?
Yes Vikki,

It is a shame that they didn't do it that way. That would save the headaches and misunderstandings taking place out here. Not to mention the digs from some very unsavory creatures such as Teddy.

Thank you for your calm and educated, thought out response.

Re: WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SCORES?
Mary,
You are just plain rude. I hope you are not in this contest because I'm sure that Partypop would NEVER sponsor such an ill mannered individual like yourself.
Remember that everything you do in life will come back to you.
God bless and I hope you have a better New Year!
