Teen Party Ideas
Cool party ideas for young teens? My soon-to-be 14 year old daughter is desperate for some party games that don't cost a lot of money (none) and don't require her parents to drive all over town getting stuff.
She's invited 30-35 boys and girls mostly aged 13 for this Saturday night. She says they'll play Truth or Dare because it's "interesting". Ahem. She is wracking her brains and ours trying to come up with other fun stuff for them to do that's not lame.
She says the kids are kind of shy about dancing with each other so we need games to break the ice.
Please, a desperate parent cries out for your help!

What about board games? I know that those were always great starters for my friends and me. There are some great ones out there, like: Scattergories (roll a dice and the letter that comes up with is the letter you have to start all your answers with), Pictionary (draw a given object until your teammates can guess what in the world you are trying to draw), I Think You Think I Think (answer questions about your teammates to see how well you REALLY know them), and there are tons more! Our personal favorite was always Scattergories, we've always wanted to try Outburst, I think you have to try to get your teammates to guess what your person/place/thing is by giving them clues, but there are given words that you cannot say or you're "out." Take her down to Wal-Mart and see if there's anything there that strikes her fancy :-)

Just a few thoughts.....
I know the whole scavenger thing can be corny but its also fun if you do it right...you can get some cheaper prizes (a CD, a 6 pack of coke;).......movie passes....whatever)...and make them go on a scavenger hunt . It can be alot of fun if you have alot of people to form teams.
Another way of doing the same kind of thing is to think of some fun games and then have the prizes awarded to the winners. Candy bar poker is fun too.......(can be played with any card game where you place "bets")
Good luck coming up with ideas....if I think of any more I will let ya know!:)

Get beach balls and have like 10 people in a group (boys and girls)
Tell them they can only use their hand or head or feet to hit the ball around in the circle
If they drop the ball or hit it with the wrong part of their body their group is out
Last group to remain standing wins
They all get candy bars or some other prize
Then losers have to all get up and do a dance like the YMCA or the Chicken Dance (something everyone knows)
The Beach Balls only cost like $2 and other then that all you need is music and kids

I am 14 myself and i threw a huge 14th birthday party last year. We brought my stereo outside(the party was from 7 to 11pm) and cranked it up. We played flashlight hide & seek and had soda chugging games(winner gets a bag of candy!) twister is always fun with 4 or more people. Hope this helps!

Heres a great idea my party loved and is inexspensive!!!
Get a few packs of lifesavers (dollar store=cheap!), and play a game with boy girl teams, you have to lick the lifesaver then try to stivk it on the boys face or other area (dont worry!) the tean with the most wins, no need for prizes, their old enough, plus, you could also have a endurance test, à la Survivor, the two sexes against the sex with the power of calling them the bette4r half wil be all the reward needed!!!
AND what my other party loved was an oldfashioned ballon fight (my boyfriend and his friends prepared theirs, and put them in coolers with ice! Then the B-day girl got dumped with the left over water! yes very cold) It was sooooo fun, we laughed forever!!
Hope it helps

I'm 13 and have had some of the most remembered parties. For example, the theme of one of my parties was a 'techno party' all techno music..dancing and cool lights like at a club. It was outside and i have a pool so that was good. If u dont have a pool...get some soap and water and make suds! HAVE A SUDS WAR! or if u like messes...dip sponges in paint and throw them at eachother. Karaoke and volleyball are cool too! hope it helps!

...on the note of booking, while it might not be possible to do an event like this for a birthday party...it's still something to consider.

I think that the best game for a teen party is spin the bottle where somebody spins the bottle and whoever it lands on you kiss.

Find a karaoke machine that will hook up to a tv. We borrowed one from a friend. Get some Karaoke CDs. (have to have a certain kind of cd) Get the tv. Hook it all up and when you turn on the tv you will have the words to the songs on the screen. Hand them a mic, and tell them have fun. That will break the ice. I am 15, it did for us

I`m about to turn 14 and I was looking for some games on the web. I thought one was quite interesting. Line up the kids "boy, girl, boy, girl" and give the first person a stick of spaghetti. They pass it to the next person but take a small bite. As the noodle is passed it will get shorter and shorter until, well, you know the rest. Start the spagetti stick at the other end or in the middle to get everyone a little nervous (or excited :) )WARNING: Has been known to cause severe laughter! LOL! Hope I helped!

Hey, I am 14 and turning 15 in a couple days. At my parties we like to watch a lot of movies, talk, of course truth or dare, and play quarters; quarters is when you sit in a circle, you have a cup of pop, you try to bounce the quarter off the table into the cup of pop and if you get it in the person beside you has to chug it down. Sorry I wasn`t much help, hope you have fun!

I love theme parties myself and if she wants to use her creativity, she could find a theme that she likes, and base all the games on the theme, she could make hommade decorations and buy cool stuff at a thrift shop for cheap. Maybe go out and have a little fun with her friends before going straight home. If you have something you could use for lights like a miniature disco ball or miniature strobe lights. If you want to and have a computer some of them could try messing around with digital cameras and remixing songs. If guys are coming over think of something a bit more unisex than makeovers however. If she`s into dress up there a lot of things you could do. If she`s not interested in that anymore you could do other things, but she could have a costume party if she did. My opnion is that a party should show creativity, even if the games are the same. Truth or dare could be spiced up a little by pulling stuff out of a hat or a twist on spin the bottle such as you don`t have to kis the person, but you have to pick a dare.

Hi! This might be a strange idea to you, but you guys could have mud volleyball, or mud wrestling. I`m having a mud wrestling contest in my backyard for my 14th b-day, in May. What I`m going to do is get a big tarp (or a few) and put it out on the ground (so i don`t ruin the grass) and then get the dirt (probably from some sand place or whatever they are) and then we get the dirt wet, and it becomes mud! and you could put a hose out by the mud pit so they can wash off. Adios!

Hi, I am 15 and I played a really cool game at a Halloween party once, it was a guy/ girl party and whatyou do is divide the party up evenly and put them in two lines (teams) the lines should be boy-girl-boy-girl and give everyone a toothpick and give a life saver to the first of each line and when you say start, they pass the lifesaver down their line with their toothpicks in their mouth and they cannot use their hands or drop it or it goes to the front of the line to start again! Hope I`ve been helpful!!

Hey, I found a game that could be fun and it is n icebreaker from the start:
Who am I?
A Good game to get people talking together at the start of the party As they arrive each person has a piece of paper pinned to their back. The paper contains the name of a famous person. By asking questions which can only be answered with "Yes" or "No" such as "Am I still alive?", "Am I fictional?", etc. The person has to guess their name. Successful guessers may have another go.
Also me and my friends have tried this game a lot and it is great!
Who`s the Murderer: Good for teens, groups of 5-8 people
All except the detective sit in a circle while the detective waits outside. One person from the circle is elected to be the murderer, and then the Detective is called back to stand in the circle. When he is ready, the Murderer winks at people in the circle. Anyone who sees that they have been winked at lets out a blood-curdling scream and dies. The Detective has three attempts to guess the murderer.
Hope this helps!

I`m 14 and i agree that games have to be fun and inexpensive so I had a game of truth or dare, spin the bottle and a game called suck and blow on my 14th B-Day. For this game you get all of the people in a circle that goes boy~girl~boy~girl and you give the person who wants to start a card. He or she sucks on it so that it stays on their mouth. They then pass it clock wise and the next person sucks on it and passes it on. If you drop it your out. The game keeps going until one person is left. I think this is a really fun game. We also watched horror movies and listend to lots of music.
I hope you find my reply useful

For my 13th b`day i`ve been tryin 2 figure out what 2 do for a long time. About 2 weeks ago i thought of this awesome idea! My grandmother lives in these luxurious apartments and it has this huge party room with a big screen tv, a bar, dance floor, disco ball, and a lot of other cool stuff. (No hangin out wit grandma required) What we`re doin is when all the girls get 2 tha party room we`re gonna pack everyone up in cars and go to this inexpensive salon that does hair and nails, then go 2 the tony and tina counter at the mall and get makeovers (ya know how they give those free makeovers?), then we`re gonna shop, after that we`re goin back 2 tha party room and we`re gonna sleepover there. There`s gonna be tonz of food, play truth ot dare, eat cookie cake, presents, watch movies, dance on the dance floor, and do nething else we wanna do!!!! I hope this helps ya out!

Ok, here it goes. I used 2 play this really kool game that kept you busy (and scared) all night.
Murderer In the Dark: To play, you need at least 4 people. All on seperate pieces of paper, (they dont need to be whole) write murderer, cop, and on the rest write towns person. Everyone picks a piece of paper and that is what they are. Everyone then goes and hides, and once everyone is ready, the murderer comes out (no peeking!) The murderer taps one person on the shoulder and says "count to 20 and scream." If the person told that is the cop, they reply, "you`re busted!" If it is a townsperson, they follow the directions. When you hear the scream, everyone comes out and they try to figure out who the murder is.
I hope that helped! If you want more information on it, email me or reply on this website.

Well ok i`m 13 and turning 14 in bout 2 weeks so i`ve been looking 4 games to play when i remembered this really cool one which is fun and is a good ice breaker.
It`s called bigger and better
What u do is split the guests into to teams and give each team a penny, plastic cup of some thing insignificant. Next like a scavenger hunt the two teams go door to door asking if the people have anything bigger or better that they can have. In around 1/2 an hour or 45 min. Have the two teams meet back somewhere and the team with the best thing wins.
This is really fun people have come back with old mattresses before!
Hope this helps ~Etta

What you need:
1. Like 3 bags of fun size assorted candy everyone likes
2. One dice
3. Timer of some sort
Ok you dump the candy on the floor, and get in a circle. Start with one person have them roll the dice if they get a 1 or 6 they take 3 pieces of candy from the candy circle. Have them show everyone what they took. Then go around the circle till all of the candy is gone. After all of the candy is gone set the timer for 7 to 10 minutes. Go around the circle and if they roll a 1 or 6 if they remember what kind of candy another person took they can take it. When the timer rings make sure everyone has some candy. They can eat it then. It is really fun and since everyone goes crazy over candy they will want to play.

Hi my name is Alexandria (or Alex for short) and i have been to some pretty cool parties and have some fun ideas. Though it is a bit expensive, everyone always loves lodge parties. Ask for premmission to use a gym or rent a community teen center and play all the regular popular teen games (aka:7 minutes in heaven, spin the bottle, truth or dare or twister) Have a dance contest or say what kareeokee, bring supplies for everything and let the kids just hang out and have fn. If you have a pool teens love swimming or playing "chicken". Have a BBQ compleate with burgers, balloon fite and music. Lots of videos, cds, music, and video games are helpful too. I knw alot of my friends love Fooze Ball too. TIP: GET LOTS OF JUMK FOOD AND CANDY!!! or go oldfasioned and have a football, basketball, or wrestling contest. If you reallywanna go big have fun and renta limo! Good Luck!

Hey! here`s a couple of kool party ideas. Im 14, so i know its hard to think of party ideas for my age. But ive had a few good parties, so here are some ideas!
*you could have a dance contest where its optional to dance w/ partners. This way, you can see if the majority of people there are too shy to dance or not.
Winner can reiceive something like a cool cd or something.(maybe you can tell your daughter the budjet and let her pick the prize).
*if the majority of the party is too shy to even enter, then after the contest, you can put a big pile of board games in the room where they are and leave them to it. You can do anything you want during this time, and if you want you can let them play truth or dare (don`t worry. This game shouldn`t get too "interesting" if they were too scared to dance.) and just check in every once in a while.
* if the majority was not scared to get out there and bust a move- easy. If they weren`t scared to dance then, they probably wont be afterwards. Turn on some cool music and pick someone to be the "dj". (if more than one person wants to be the dj, then let them draw names out of ...well, something. Then ,once again, leave them to it.
Food must-haves- pizza, something sweet (cookies, cake, cupcakes, candy, gum etc...), soft drinks, juice or tea, make-your-own ice cream sundaes and anything else you feel is nessesary.
I hope you enjoy my ideas and i hope that some are of use to you. E-mail me and let me know! bye!

A good competition to do or just to do for a dare is the chugging game! But, What you need to do is get somebody to go in the kitchen and mix all kinds of things up in a glass! But, don`t get it to where they`ll puke `cause you don`t want to see that groosssss! Don`t tell the person that has to drink it what is in it though. But, don`t put anything that there allegic to or anything you know to nasty!

The best party idea i`ve come across so far is higgledy-piggledy. How to play its easy, say your having a sleepover you and four other girls. All together there would be probably four sleeping bags, if not just use a blanket. While one of you stand outside the room, the four other girls hide in different sleeping bags not showing any of their skin, hair etc... When the girl who was standing in the hall comes inside the room, all the girls should be hidden in each-others sleeping bags. The girl who came in picks whatever sleeping bag she wants. Without pulling the covers off the person, she has to feel for certain characteristics. After doing so she sits on the person and says, "higgledy-piggledy I think this is _____________." The person in the sleeping bag can reveal themselves but may not reveal others identity. If the girl who is it does not figure out who anyone is has to start again, but if she does find someone and is correct on their identity, they will have to be it. So heres a game even me and my 15 year-old friends still love to play since kindergarten, other than the ecassional 45`s card game. That is only known in two states. Anywaze hope you enjoy this game as me and my friends have.~Evelyn~

I just recently had my 14th birthday party. I didn`t know exactly what to do because I had invited around 30 people. Most of them were weird and loved to do crazy things. My mom helped me out with a lot of the planning. We bought a pinata. Next we got some shaving cream and balloons. Whenever people started arriving we just chilled in my living room, and then to break the ice we went outside and busted my pinata. : ) Next we ate. Hot dogs and shis-kabobs are a really good idea. Then me and one of my friends started the shaving cream fight. Next thing you know.....my parents had 30 teenagers covered with shaving cream on ther hands...not a pretty sight. So the water balloon fight helped wash us all off. (so did the water hose) Then after we changed...we watched some scary movies. The Ring is a REALLY good idea. My party was 5 hours long....but the time just flew by!! Another good idea would be to have some of her buddies spend the night. If you think his idea sounds stupid.....don`t worry, i did too. But it was awesome!!!

My mom has ozarka water jugs (the kind where they go on top of a filter or something..like 5 gallons probly) and we`ll fill the jugs with water and put them in our mini van..then we`ll all go to the park and have a water gun fight, throw water balloons, and when we run out of water we`ll have some waiting in the van!! hope you like this!! ~kat
PS the idea above was really cool too!! : )

HI EVERYONE
On April 19 Im turning 14
And I have no idea wat to for my party. My friend the day before is gonna have a birthday party on the 18th at hotel for her ( thats a coed party) but I cant invite guys over to my house. Wat I wanted to do was have a BBQ but I dont know wat else. I want to invite no more than 10 girls from the ages 14-16 and everyone is mature for their age. I wanted to have like a water fight and if I get a pool I wanted to have a swimming party but everyone is embarrased. So I dont know wat to do!!! I also wanted to go to Worlds of Fun(amusement park) but that costs like $40 for each person and I dont want them to pay for their entire ticket price since its my party but I cant pay for all of them either. If we do the Worlds of Fun thing Im gonna invite guyz. Can u think of any ideas on how to get money? Do u think Worlds of Fun is a good idea or just a BBQ with other stuff? How bout the BBQ, a movie, and the mall? Anything else?

Last year my brother turned 16. Me, my mom and my Brothers girlfriend planned a really big surprise party. We left who was invited up to his girlfriend, but me and my mom did the decorating. We set it up sort of like a hawiian party and my brother is sortor weird so as a ift we bought him a grass skirt and a big yellow hat. We have a pool so we told people to ring bathing suits and a towel. We told people to get there a little early and while we waited for my brother and his girlfriend to get back from the mall, we played with a HUGE beach ball, the beach bal was fun all throughout the night and we had tons of fun. My brother is in a band so his band played and everyone stayed till like 12. We also had a fire going so we could roast marshmellows. It was tons of fun, and he was really surpried!

Well I`m 14. For my party we had `Who can drink a can of pop fastest` contests, it may seem lame but people really get into it, soon, they all want to join in!!!

All moms-no board games! Its hard because some kids get really really hyper and will not want to sit and be calm. Hide and go seek in the dark is the most fun EVER! don`t do anything in seperate groups, if one person gets stuck with another and they want to be with thier "#1" friend your party will be a damper- huge groups are totally fun!

I think the funnest thing to do at a party is playing hide and go seek in the dark. We played it at my friends house and she has a room full of junk so we hid under that. At my party i am going to play this mystery game were you have to find out who is the murderer. You have to make news papers and find out who it is. It is really fun. I had a blast playing it.

Im turning 13 in april too. At my party were gonna do madlibs at the begging of my party to break the icce. You should make one up for each person, then after they fill it out mix them up and hand them out. Then the people have to try and guess whose madlib they got. Its really fun(i did it where i used to live in class, lol)

At my party we might fill up tiny balloons with water and fill some up with air and put candy in them. I will put them in my backyard on the ground and on go everybody will run up and step on them looking for the 2 with bubblegum in it. The players can`t bend down to see. Once they see that they have poppede the balloon with buble gum in it (you need a lot of balloons) then they need to yell out that they got it and they keep on playing untill the last one is found. It is really fun. My friend played it at her party and they had so much fun they wanted to play it like 3 more times.

Hi. Im having my 16th Birthday in a couple of weeks. And I came up with....see there is this Ballroom down the street and Im going to rent this heavy rock band and after them have a DJ. Which should last from 7pm-12am. But there should be alot of people. Then from 12am-2pm we go to Slicks (Billiards) that is right down the street from us. But you have to have an adult cuz you cant get in unless your 17. Then have tournaments and get trophys for who wins. The guys will love that! Then after there is a co-ed sleepover. At my house the lights are going to be all off and were going to have music and Fog Machines. And black lights, strobe lights and disco lights. All sort of cool things. Kind of like a club type atmosphere. And In my back yard have a Moonwalk (those things you jump in). I know thats for little kids but those things are awesome when you get a lot of teenagers in them. Well I hope that this helped you some. -TIffany

Hey guys...one really funny game to play at parties is....have one person be the leader kindof like simon says...then get 2 ppl to go into another room....get another 2 ppl to be ghosts. Place 2 chairs on the floor , get 2 bowls filled w/ water and a cold washcloth, after that have the 2 ppl in the other room sit in2 chairs in front of the ghosts.( the ghosts will have a sheet over them ) have the simon says person in front of the other 2 ppl .....have the person tell the other 2 what to do like simon says..eventually get them to stand up and sit bak down...once they stand up have the 2 ghosts behind them slide the washcloths on the chairs so when they sit down they get a wet butt! its hilarious trust me....this game is called " oogy boogy "

I came here a week ago to search for party ideas, and you guys helped so much! So now I will try to help you in return. I had my 14th birthday party last Saturday and everyone had a blast. We had a water-balloon fight and once the water balloons were gone, we used super-soakers and the hose and we got everyone SOAKED! Then we washed off and got into our hot-tub. It was soo fun in the hot tub. We played tons of games, like truth-or-dare and it was really fun. Then we got out, dried off, and played badmitten until the pizza came. Then we ate it, played more badmitten, had cake, Then I gave them little presents and did what is called the dice game. I put all their presents in the middle, and then you pass around the dice, and if you get doubles, you get a present. Then you go until they are all gone, and then they un-wrapped them. Then heres were it gets fun. You give them one more minute to play, and they have to steal from eachother, they usually fight over two things or so, so the time limit helps. Then we got our sleeping bags ready and had a DVD marathon. The next morning we had krispy kremes and everyone went home. It was a fun party, so I hope I helped! Another hint: Put some fun things out and then have some time where people can do whatever they want. While me and 2 friends went upstairs to play on my computer, my other 4 friends brought a blanket outside to sit on and talk for a while. So don`t try and cooridinate everything.

A really fun icebreaker we played at my 16th b-day party was stomp the balloon. There was about 50 people playing. Everyone ties a balloon to their ankle with a three foot piece of string. Then everyone tries to stomp on and pop other people`s balloon. When yours is popped you are out. Play it in a confined area so you can`t run to far. When there are only two or three people left make the area smaller. It is great fun to watch

Have "props" out in clear site like madlibs, old yearbooks, interesting books, photo albums, board games... That can get people talking and break the ice

Hey!
I have had some pretty cool parties. Last year i rented a party bus. It had tables and seats and blacklights and a bathroom and strip lights and a pole for um well this one guy did pole dancing. Very disturbing.... Anyway we went to some awsome places on the bus like dinner and arcades and parks and dance places. My friends loved this so much they r asking me 2 do it this year. But i can`t cause that would be the same thing 2 years in a row! I am having a little trouble coming up with something for this years party so if you guys have any ideas reply to this! Thanx and i hope it helped you!

Ok, for my birthday this year I was going to have a fancy dinner party but that didn`t work out, i had already bought a dress so i was trying to figure out just what to do. Then I had an idea, me and like 6 other girls are going to rent a limo and take it out on my birthday (8-8-88) I dont know hoe fun this will be but we are all going to dress up in semi formal stuff, i little less then prom, but now i dont know what to do. I was thinking we could either all get ready with each other, or I could pick them all up at each others house with the limo. Then we were going to go and stop at a lot of placesjust so thatwe can be scene, like the mall a store by th movie theater and who knows where else. Then I was thinking that maybe for our last stop we could be dropped of somewhere ok, like Applebee`s. Thats what i was thinking, if you have any ideas of suggestions that would really help!
