John Maverick is a Magician out of Austin, Texas. John has several exciting stage shows suitable for people of all ages and also loves Close-Up magic which is done right in front of the faces of the audience.

John got his start in magic at a young age. At his fifth birthday party the Great Scott, a veteran of Austin magic, performed and John got his first taste of the art.

Through the years John honed his magic skills while taking inspiration from great magicians like Penn and Teller, Amazing Jonathan and Harry Anderson. This self-education led to many misadventures throughout high school.

After high school John started performing magic for children under the name Magic John. He enjoyed working with children but felt that he was limiting himself to one style and show. In August of ****, he went to Tannens Magic Camp in Long Island and placed fourth in the Stage Magic Competition with a card routine using bullwhips.

After going through a name change to John Maverick he broadened his shows to perform for people of all ages. He is now the house magician at Elysium Nightclub located at *** Red River in Austin, Texas. He has performed his Stage Show there several times. He has also performed in New Orleans at GothCon and in New York City at Convergence *.

John loves magic and will continue to do it, even if there is no audience.
