Courtney Grueschow began to study the sitar at the age of 18. In 2002, Courtney received her BFA in North Indian Classical Music from California Institute of the Arts with an emphasis on sitar studying with numerous masters including Rajeev Tarnanath and Swapan Chaudhuri. She continues to further her practice and education with Partha Chatterjee in both India and the United States. During the winter of 2005, she lived with a Bengali family in Calcutta, India while learning sitar. In the spring of 2007, Courtney performed in a 13 city European tour with Anoushka Shankar and in 2009 and 2010 toured throughout the US playing Tanpura accompaniment for Ravi Shankar and Anoushka Shankar.

Based in Los Angeles, California, Courtney Grueschow performs in a number of world music collaborations with such established artists as world musician 'Paul Livingstone', jazz based 'Fumosonic' and electronic artist Celeste Lear. In addition, Courtney worked with film composer Matthew Farraro for the upcoming mockumentary 'Darnell Dawkins'. Primarily, she performs in the traditional North Indian Classical style on Sitar with Tabla accompaniment.
