Unique Venues

In addition to the private event space, guests have access to the shop, which brims with hand-selected gourmet products, and the gathering area behind the market, which is decorated with vintage cleavers and butchering equipment.

The dining room can accommodate 25 guests for a seated meal or 40 guests for a standing reception. Menus are customized for each event focused on using seasonal ingredients. Items can be passed or served plated or family style. Guests can bring their own wine and or beer with no corkage fee.

HISTORY
Avedano's took over a space formerly occupied by Cicero's Meats, a family-owned market that opened in 1955 and served the neighborhood for several decades. The building has been a butcher shop or market for the better part of the last century; the original shop having opened on the site in 1901. Many of the antique furnishings and equipment still survive and have been incorporated into the current design, lending the shop an authentic period feel. The new owners have restored the shop to its former splendor, including the vintage neon sign, installed by the Cicero's predecessors, Bleuss Meats, which proudly shines once again in Bernal Heights.

The name Avedano's is derived from the maiden name of Tia's grandmother Flora, a first-generation Italian American whose family immigrated to San Francisco from Italy only days before the infamous earthquake of 1906. The name evokes family, tradition, and an important era of San Francisco's history. Many of the dishes on the prepared foods menu were inspired by Flora Avedano.
