Balloons & Party, exclusively uses balloons that are made of 100% biodegradable latex in all of our balloon decorations. Latex Balloons are known to be completely safe for the environment. In fact, scientific research has proven that helium latex balloons have little or no effect on pollution. Their studies have proven that when helium latex balloons are released into the air, they lift upward approximately five (5) miles high where the air is thin causing the balloon to swell to twice its normal size. The air is so cold this high in the atmosphere that the enlarged latex balloon freezes and shatters into millions of tiny slivers, scattering over many miles as the pieces fall back to earth. The millions of tiny pieces then decompose, or rot, at about the same rate as an oak leaf that falls from an oak tree in approximately 45 days.
