From the *st birthday bash, to retirment homes all the way to baseball stadiums filled with baseball fans, Hernan finds a way to entertain, bewilder,
motivate and make everyone laugh, dance sing and have all kinds of fun.
Hernan works **-** hours a week entertaining thousands of people at one of California's busiest tourist destinations San Francisco's Fisherman's
Wharf. "I bring a live theater experience to people who only see performance on the television" He loves the Wharf because
"I can build a crowd and make a stage where there was only asphalt,
or sidewalk."
Q: "How does this apply to a toddler party or the day use room in a retirement home?"
Hernan: " Performers tend to hide behind props. lighting or curtains, they seem to say, "Look at my props, look at me". I use whatever environment I am in. I let the family take over and with my guidance become the star of the show, in a retirement setting, the residents become circus performers or 'The Worlds Greatest Magician"
I can make small spaces into a castle or spaceship.
In bigger spaces I have props, *** foot long "skywriting kites" * foot big bouncing balls, a whole afternoon of Magic, Juggling or bubbles and kites and constructive running and playing. A common mistake is the family celebration can be swallowed by a large venue or park. The sheer scale of the venue can suck the party out of the party, The performance fits a tiny piece of the big arena. And that is all you get. I like to fill the whole space, move the entertainment around the area. I like for the arriving guests to see us from far away and hope that is the party they are going to. In my performance artist days we called the genre "Site Specific" theater.
