Tucky was born in Los Angeles, California and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is an award-winning Artist with a B.A. from San Francisco State University and a B.F.A. from San Francisco's Academy of Art University. His work has been featured in several well-known events, including the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans, LA, the Black Expo in Oakland, CA, and the American Art Festival in Sacramento, CA.
Tucky's desire to draw arrived in an unexpected manner. At eight years old, Tucky saw his best friend Albert draw a turkey on the chalkboard in elementary school. "I remember being jealous, because he did it so well. From that moment on, I wanted to be an Artist." Tucky's talent in art was evident and encouraged by family and friends.
Acrylics is his preferred medium, but Tucky is well versed in Pastels and Charcoal. With his strong sense of self and sensitivity, he is able to create outstanding works of art capturing the essence of his subjects. Among his mentors are Artists Kenneth Gatewood, Ronald Saine, Rene Pulido, and Keith Knight.
"The reason that I paint my own children the most," Tucky replies, when asked about his main subject matter, "Is because that is what I know. An Artist should paint what means the most to him so that he creates his best works. I don't yet know what the future may bring, artistically speaking-- but right now this work is my highest calling."
In February ****, Tucky became a member of the Artist Guild of San Francisco. Being a member of this fantastic group of Artists has been a milestone in his career, both personally and professionally. "The Guild attracts people from all over the world because of where our shows take place. Union Sqare and Golden Gate Park, for example, are huge San Francisco tourist attractions. It still shocks me to have somebody from Australia, Belgium, or North Dakota take one of my paintings home."
Tucky also immensely enjoys Caricaturing. He has performed his caricaturist talents for many prominent businesses and clientele, including Six Flags Marine World in Vallejo, CA, the Biletnikoff Foundation (affiliated with the Oakland Raiders), and Congressman George Miller.
Philanthropy is also now a part of his makeup. Since **** he has held an annual art contest for the students at Vallejo High School, as well as giving art demonstrations at various other Bay Area schools and Retirement homes.
