Henna is created from the plant Lawsonia Inermis, which is grown in India, Egypt & the Sudan. The plant is crushed into a fine powder. Then essential oils, lemon juice and other natural ingredients are added to make Henna paste. Henna has been used throughout the Middle East for centuries for the congenital art of adorning a woman's body parts: hands, feet and hair. Henna is an art form of it's own and has been celebrated for centuries. Never claiming to be realistic looking, it is an art form with a history that spans generations in many different countries
Henna paste is a natural dye. It looks almost greenish-black when it is first mixed and applied. Then the henna paste will flake off and the stain turns to a copper-orange to redish-brown. A tattoo will start orange and then darken within the first 24-48 hours. The longer the henna paste is left on the skin the more skin layers will become stained by the henna.
The henna tattoo will remain until all the stained layers of skin naturally exfoliate. Exfoliation will eventually cause the stain to disappear. It will last anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks depending on your body temperature level, where the henna is applied, the dryer the spot the deeper the stain and how often you wash the hennaed area.
Making Henna Tattoos the longest form of temporary tattoos available.
