Photographs are a wonderful way to stimulate the storytelling gene. Like me, I suspect most people have shoeboxes, slide carousels, scrapbooks and hard drives full of memories. I want access to my shoeboxes and hard drives and the stories trapped inside them. I need to see them to jar loose the untold stories that dwell inside me.
Beyond this dilemma of untold stories, life does not stand still. There are new images and new storiesing faster and faster.
asked myself, How do I get a handle on all the storytelling I have inside me and at the same time keep up with the ever increasing pace of life now? I realized I needed to learn new skills so I did some online research.
I found heaps of great information on the art of writing and storytelling did you know there is an art form called digital storytelling ?
So, there it is.
* Organize my photographs so I can see them easily.
* Create a slide-show or movie as a means of telling my stories and sharing them with family and friends.
* Use good writing skills to tell my stories.
I found nothing thatbined the three AND was simple and inexpensive. I discovered I was on to something.
learned a lot and borrowed a ton. Mostly, I read the blogs, wiki's and websites of people who teach teachers how to use new technology in their classroom. These teachers of teachers are tremendous assets to their colleagues, to their colleagues' students around the country. These people are invaluable to me.
I developed processes that take advantage of Web 2.0 applications and best practices in creative writing and digital storytelling. I blended my new learning with the experiences and skills I have acquired over my lifetime.
