Henna, Airbrush & Temporary Tattoos

Hennna Sue is a Boston based henna artist, traveling all over New England for parties, weddings and private appointments. Sue began doing henna, or mehendi/mehndi as the art form is called, in 1996 when a friend returned from Morocco with henna supplies. The process ofposing endless variations of patterns out of intricate lines and shapes suited her perfectly. The fact that henna only stains the skin for a few weeks was also appealing, and fit right in with the rest of her time-based, ephemeral artwork. Her connection with henna is not only on an artistic level, but on a cultural one, as well, as she grew up with a stepfather from India, a mother from Maine, and a biological father from the middle east. This blend of cultural heritage is reflected in her henna designs. She is asfortable spending 4 hours on intricate bridal henna as she is recreating any image someone finds off the internet. She can freestyle patterns or draw anything given to look at. She began her design research working on traditional South Asian patterns and then branched out into Arabic, Moroccan, and Gulf motifs, soon finding beautiful patterns in the many cultures of the world- including her own.
Henna Sue's rates are $90/hr for individual appointments and parties, and $100/hr for bridal mehndi and large scale/corporate events. Her henna lasts 1-2 weeks and ispletely natural. When in party mode, each guest will take about 7 to 20 minutes, depending on theplexity of designs. Hosts can request a time limit per person.
