Modern Jazz Dancers

The Hot Flashes Follies, a senior dance company under the direction of Marilee Garcia, have been dancing together since 1986. Unique in their professionalism and dance expertise, their shows are professionally choreographed and costumed, prompting frequent comparisons from audiences to the Palm Springs Follies. There are currently 10 perfomers whose routines range from Broadway to Big Band with an occasional nod to Nashville, as well.

Guest artist, Ann Webster, adds another dimension to the shows, performing comedy solos and impersonations of well-known celebrities.

In the past ten years The Hot Flashes Follies have made over 300 appearances, many of them rebookings, before a wide variety of audiences, among them: the Building Industry Association, with Les Brown's Band, The Retired Officers Association, Brandeis University Women, Northrop-Grumman Retirement Club and the City of Hope. The Hot Flashes' talent and commitment to excellence have produced a polished, exciting performance that is unique in its professionalism and consistent star quality.

Marilee Garcia has served not only as director, but producer and business manager for The Hot Flashes Follies. Marilee performed professionally as a Hawaiian dancer for 17 years with Vince Akina's Polynesian Revue. The group appeared in the first Bob Hope Christmas Show in the United States, at the Long Beach Naval Hospital. Marilee also teaches beginning and advanced Hawaiian and Tahitian dance classes in Oceanside and San Marcos.

Cherri Engel – Dancer and lip-sync artist performing with the Hot Flashes Follies for 3 years. She wows the audiences with songs such as big spender and Bye Bye Blackbird.

Ann Webster - Impersonator, standup comic and singer with the Hot Flashes Follies. Ann is a multifaceted entertainer: pianist, organist, actress in mystery dinner theatre productions, & ballroom dancer. Lately she is sharpening up her tap dancing skills. At 63 she says “I’m just beginning – you ain’t seen nothing yet!”
