Jerry Dixon, “The NYC Piper” is our respected, trusted and much-loved friend
Jerry Dixon, “The NYC Piper” is our respected, trusted and much-loved friend; we think of him as family. He has log been “The Piper to the 74th Ch. ief of the New York Caledonian Club, established 1856. Jerry is especially well studied and knowledgeable, a great teacher about Scottish history and customs. He makes his own uniforms and he made a dress sporran like the one he is wearing in this photo for me as 74th Chief. Today, Jerry is known as “The NYC Piper” and the Pipe Major of the Irish War Band as featured on the cover of the Official Program of the NYC St. Patrick's Day Parade as well as in the Celebrating 250 Years of the New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade Book. Always helping people an especially kids learn about the role of Scots in America and the world, holidays and events relating to Scots in the Revolutionary, he would go to various NYC neighborhoods, parks and schools to perform and teach. Jerry also knows, well knew where the 10 cases of Grant's Whisky left for the New York Caledonian Club were stored when left Jimmie and I NYC to go with the US Dept of State to serve in Kosovo in 2006. He also knows, knew where all the historic NYCC trophies dating back across the century, that Jim Denny inventoried and photographed were stored in 2006. Jerry is the kind of person, known for what he knows, to be honest and forthright, always counted on to help out, do what needed to be done. He is a great father of very smart girls, now women, and a genuinely extraordinary friend anyone you could ever know. Known as “The NYC Piper” is your wedding and event specialist.
